Hello! We live in Japan with two Asian Small-Clawed Otters.
Kotaro: Male, DOB 11/10/2017
Kotaro has a scar on his tail from being bitten by another otter when he was still a baby.
Hana: Female, DOB 11/24/2018
They have been toilet trained; they use a special pad that is designed for small dogs.
Since I'm using a translation function, my sentences might come out strange.
Please provide me with corrections if anything is translated improperly.

I guess the zoo otters are used to completely ignore people and everything else outside of their cage. I think, I would, too.

Maybe they cannot smell the other otters. Our local zoo glassed in otters pretty much ignore everything outside, but the outdoor otters, tayra, badgers, and grison seem to like visitors that they can scent.

Probably more common in Asia, like seeing someone walking a ferret over here (my sister owned a couple but it’s still pretty rare). People usually don’t walk up to pet them, maybe they’re scared?

They were probably told off camera not to touch or bother the otters unless given the opportunity to interact with them.

Looks like Kotaro was more into this adventure than Hana. So nice when Kotaro was surrounded by kids and he just calmly sat in the middle. I wonder what he was thinking when he faced the two dogs. Onto to the next adventure...

He was defiantly curious about the dogs, but same time didn't want them too close. That snort is otter sign he's mad, possibly going to bite if they got too close without his wanting it.

Ok this was heartbreaking... not to be "that" person. But the poor little things were running in circles they were completely disfunctional. You could tell they were HIGHLY stressed. They arent getting the HEALTHY enrichment that you give to Kataro and Hana. Your Otters are confident and healthy. Those otters acted like prisoners. And if i thought i was over reacting, you can see when the one otter runs up to the window, all the fur is rubbed from the muzzle and his/her nose is actually BLEEDING. The enclosure seemed relatively clean, but those animals were terribly stressed... im si glad Kataro and Hana found such good parents. Because that exibit was HEARTBREAKING....

Kotaro is so brave, he's fearless. He doesn't flinch when the dogs come by and he stands his ground. Such a cutie!🥰

It's so nice of Daddy and Mummy to bring their babies out, especially the weather is getting warmer. Maybe Kotaro missed Noro Lodge, as he is also a great swimmer, companion and friend to Captain Aty and Otterman!❤🥰😘🤩😍🦦🦦

🦦🦦🤩🙂🙃Beautiful video. Kotaro enjoys watching and studying the otters ' water circuit. I thought like Hana... those otters are slimers. Kotaro is most interested in the dogs because they are "free", with leashes but not behind a glass. Nice Kotaro among the Kids,so calm and the different kids' reactions. Amazing. What a nice start to the day ... outside the sun shyly peeks out from behind the clouds and with its warm rays slowly warms the earth... the birds with their beautiful voice create the most beautiful melody, for the ear, for the soul! Nature is slowly waking up from a long winter sleep! Spring is at the door! Our little ones with their incredible energy, their exceptional beauty and their always sweet appearance, brought this beautiful day that "final touch" that everything seems somehow fairytale, divinely beautiful! 東は八景島シーパラダイス西は江ノ島水族館南に下りると油壺マリンパーク神奈川の海岸沿いはカワウソパークがたくさんですからねーやはり群れで生活するカワウソは自分の群れにいないと同種でも塩対応ですね

ペットが入れる水族館ってあるんですね！知りませんでした。水族館のカワウソとの対面、盛り上がると思ったけど意外にも盛り上がり無かったですね😅 ワンちゃんを見るコタローの目、あんなに真剣な目初めて見ました。にしても、よく躾されてるワンちゃん達で可愛いですね🐕

Instead of having ‘zoos’, they should have rescue animal shelters allow paid visitation to view the animals that they have taken in and are caring for prior to their releases.

Zoos are starting to do that. The zoo near me has blind coyote that they took in but he can't go back into the wild because he's blind. They take care of him and he's an "animal ambassador" which means they take him to schools or gatherings to teach kids and other people about coyotes and wild animals.
