Many people ask me if a power conditioner increases your overall sound quality. A lot of people will say no but I'm not so sure that's the case! let's talk about what a power conditioner is truly for!

Power conditioner does work !!! Also you may want to add a voltage stabilizer before power conditioner as well. 1. Using reputable brand is a must here 2. How many filter stage does it have? 2, 3, 4+ the higher level of filter is better to eliminating noise 3. Is the power cable you are plugging from the power condition to the unit is shielded? If not than you're are wasting time. Most power cable come with your electronic equipment is not shield and can be easy over look 99% of the time. If they are shielded it will label wire gauge and shielded on the wire itself. IE; My $1K+ AVR included a $2 16g/2 unshielded power cord and if I would plugged this into the power conditioner it wouldn't do any good for me. Noisy and unregulated outlet (Voltage regulator will keep voltage constant at 120V - Voltage can sometimes drop to 100 or above 120 which could harm your equipment) =====> Power conditioner filtering out unwanted noises === (This is where most people over look here. A required shielded power cable is need here - If you're using unshielded EMF can be introduces back here) ===> Electronic equipment

I forgot to mention... a good power conditioner will also have multiple isolated bank which can eliminate hum in your system that causes by ground loop.

Depends on so many factors, not the least of which is how dirty your power is

I have a Panamax 4300 and a monster 850g , I use them for every setup in my home, like the studio , bedroom system office system computer system whole house audio system my kitchen system and the home theater system. One thing to keep in mind and that is ac current is a sine wave that emits harmonics on a consistent basis and it will shorten the life of any electronic devices and the average power needed for your electronic is 115 to 117 so you need to have something to keep the voltage consistent at all times so you don’t have premature breakdown. I have been using some type of power conditioner for about 40 years and I still have electronic devices from back in the day that is working very well.

I've own a couple of power conditioners...a Furman PL8C and Panamax 5400...both clean the sound and video...especially the Panamax...it really made a clear improvement in the picture...colors more vibrant...blacks more black...now when it comes to sound...it cleaned it up also...the bass is bassier...and the highs are crisp...absolutely no noise whatsoever...but...here's the deal...both conditioners constrict amplifiers to clean up the sound floor...it's not as expansive...I found this out because I plugged my av receiver into the Panamax non-high current outlets...and then one day I plugged it and the sub into the high-current outlet...boom...cha ling -a-ling...what a big ars difference...moral of the story...if you get a power conditioner...make sure it has high current outlets for powering an amp...I use the Furman for my 2-channel setup...it has no high-current outlet...I plug my amp and sub straight into the wall...streamer, turntable, pre-amp into the Furman....

I’ve been using a Panamax 5400 for years. Generally I have a pre/pro, ATV, PS5, and a Xbox hooked to it. I’ve always wondering if purchase another conditioner with multiple high current outlets would be warranted for my external amps. I use two Emotiva XPA100s, one XPA 5 g1, and recently added a XPA 7 g3. They are all hooked up to their own 20amp outlet though. So, I’d need multiple high current conditioners depending on the brand. The 5400 for example only has 2 iirc. Someone suggested connecting my 5400 to one 20amp outlet but that would defeat the purpose of each having their own high powered source 🤔

I have the panamax mr4300 and I got for protection and I say it works pretty good because had a brownout last month and it shut everything down and came back on once the voltage is normal.

I actually do want one, for surge protection and to ascertain exactly how many amps im using. I want that comfort level that my external amp /5.4.4 is nowhere near 15 amps, before i consider buying another external amp. BUT, i also have seen a lot of audiophile videos that say power conditioners dont help audio quality, and in fact, degrade it.

I’ve noticed a slight difference in my audio quality. It makes my audio more crisp and clean and the blacks more black (silents). Takes some of the hum off of my voice too. It wasn’t a huge difference, but there was a difference from my regular surge protector.

Thanks for the reply. Since my post, i actually got 2 power conditioner for 2 systems. And i agree with you, it does seem to help for my audio system that runs only on AVR amps. My other system that has an external amp, i notice no difference. But cool to learn about other experiences. Thanks

I'm a bit of a stickler when it comes to any kind of unwanted noise and its only when I splashed out for an iso-tek evo3 sirius power conditioner that the remaining unwanted noise had finally become apparent! 🤔 Bear in mind, i wouldn't advise anyone moving on to this kind of equipment, not at least until one addresses their cables first! From my experience it was the 'unshielded' cables that were probably the loudest components within my setup! Silence is Golden... it's just fucking expensive getting there!

I think its a common misconception on Battery Backups/UPS, but it can’t power your system for hours. I dont think it could even power a home theater for 5 minutes. It’s mostly meant for computers, servers, and network gear that don’t draw a ton of power, and are things you may not want the power cut abruptly. I have one in my rack and I have my network gear and projector connected to it. The projector is nice, bc if the power does go out then I will be able to shut it down and properly to not damage the bulb.

Well it does work for video for a fact , I have a furman 20i , it’s better to have one and not need it than need it and not have one . Then I have another rack in my basement for transducers that is a sequencing that will turn on my other amps with a 12 v trigger off my processor so these things do serve a purpose. I also have a ipurifier that does work , when you raise the volume with no feed you can hear the hiss come thru at high volume so you know it’s there then plug the purifier in and you have slightly less hiss bingo you know it works. They do work for a fact

If you have a sizable investment in your components, protect your system with the best you can afford. I run two SurgeX XR-315’s in both of my SVS 7.3 and Klipsch 7.4 Systems.

They won’t increase wattage like you said BUT they can reduce / limit it.. your thumbnail uses what seems to be the Panamax 5400 which I would’ve liked to had gotten but it only has TWO high current outlet, while their MR5100 has 4 which Id need since running dual subs. Weird how the more expensive 5300/5400 & some other companies only have 2 . Anyhow super happy with the 5100, feels fancy just having & looks cool with the AVR

Power conditioners don't increase sound quality and they don't "clean power" the power supply in your amp or AVR doesn't care about "dirty" AC power because it's going to turn it into DC anyways. what a Power Conditioner does do is fix potential ground loops, and saves thousands of dollars of equipment from a lighting strike or power surge.
