Director responsible for some of the cast and crews sense of humor. Not directly, but definitely influenced US (AND a lot of pop culture) with such hits as "Animal House", "The Blues Brothers", "Twilight Zone: The Movie", "Spies Like Us", "Trading Places", "Three Amigos", hell, the guy directed THRILLER! WE ARE SO EXCITED to have him!

you can’t say it’s murder if AT MOST it was involuntary man slaughter. Of course he didn’t purposefully kill people. Get real, it wasn’t his fault.
@CB-qg3yh
@CB-qg3yh 3 жыл бұрын
@@pigeonboy7696 no. If you look up the whole story, Landis continusly shrugged off safety hazards, and was illegally making the young actor work over child labor laws, and didn't care about the safety of the cast or crew. He might not have intentionally killed those kids, but he's responsible, and never played the price for it
@pigeonboy7696
@pigeonboy7696 3 жыл бұрын
CB96 Yhe only child labor law he broke was that he had the kids too late. Of course it’s not great that he broke that but that’s not really a safety thing, more of something to prevent people from keeping kids from going to school. So that’s kind of out of it. As for the safety hazards, those kinds of hazards have been used in TONS of other movies and haven’t had problems. Not saying it’s a good thing, but he really didn’t do much different from other directors of the time. Plus, a lot of the safety hazards weren’t told to him by people working on the set. He wasn’t perfect in the situation, but I still think it’s more of a freak accident than a manslaughter. It certainly wasn’t murder as a ton of dumbasses seem to think it is. Either way, it was horrible, but personally I don’t think he’s really a killer or fully responsible for their deaths

Steven Spielberg had been partners with Landis (he also worked on TZ The Movie), but he said that after TZ The Movie he ended his friendship with Landis. When a tragedy happens on a film it affects the careers of all the directors or crew members involved, so I can understand Spielberg's opinion. Landis was reckless getting those people killed. He almost did time for it. And he lied about Vic Morrow: he gave a b.s. statement about how Morrow had every faith in him (Landis) and would do anything for him. The truth was Morrow was heard saying on the set:'That Landis is one crazy son of a bitch!" (so why did he agree to do such a dangerous stunt???).

Kevin - simply require all submissions to also contain their shirt size from the get go, avoiding that tedious second step of another correspondence. Oh, ya - about that Ask Kevin graphic. The toon is fine, but what's with the nutty red hair? They woulda done fine with a lighter brown than the black background. But wow, going to red was just overkill. Love the show as always, though, and John Landis rules!

Aliens made Citizen Kane because a 25 year old genious couldn't have done it. LOL I'll run that by the folks that claim aliens built the pyramids because we can't quite figure out how something(s) so grand was constructed.

The Twilight Zone the movie is not great (though I did like the opening scene of the demon in the car and the time travel story). American Werewolf in Paris (I know Landis didn't do that sequel but it's still a sequel to his work) is interesting but not as good as the first one.

Cameraman Conway Wickliffe killed on set - CHRIS NOLAN all tragic but twilight zones not the only one.

...but fuckers won't leave Landis alone about it. If thats how y'all feel... Are you American ? your country is responsible for more deaths in other countries than any other since WW2... by the reasoning of all the whinjing armchair critics who've probably done fuck all most of their lives, YOU are responsible for all those murders !!!! Can you even rub enough brain cells together to create a big enough spark of thought to work that statement out ? Now, tell me again how Landis is any different to the COUNTLESS other directors who've had deaths on the set ? Ya can't coz yer all knee jerk "i heard this story once n am now (selectively) outraged on someone elses behalf about a situation that does not affect me and has nothing to do with me" fools. Get over yerselves ! 1000's are dying in Gaza.....how bothered are you about that ? do you even KNOW, beyond the zionist led media bullshit what the fuck is going on there ?.... but a director had death on set YEEEEEEEEEEEARS ago n yer still fuckin whining like a bitch !

I think the reason it was so shocking was because it was caught on film but yeah, many people in films (including animals) have been deceased in the process of countless films.

Twilight Zone was completely different because Landis knew he was putting Morrow and the two kids in danger but thought his artistic integrity mattered more than their lives...he bribed the parents of the children to ignore the safety inspectors because they would have immediately put a stop to it

Do all hollywood types take a class on complimenting others in hollywood? No matter what they think. Everyone is the greatest in the world. Well not Landis though, he is more candid than most
