Tbh, even non-musically wise, I don’t think 2020 was shitty at all, that was the year when me and my BFF became BFFs and 2020 summer was the best summer so far, 2020 K-pop was very very very good, one of the best years in K-pop imo + BLACKPINK‘s 1st “Full“ album, the most iconic Itzy songs so far, Hwasa with Maria, the best fromis_9 Album and LOONA‘s best song were released!!! Until your compilation I didn't realize there were SO many retro vibes or synthwave songs released that year, and sadly I'm a sucker for that kind of stuff and absolutely loved all of them (btw thanks for adding so bad on my list, it's crazy beautiful). I wish La Di Da got a music show win tbh, personally it was my "holy shit these girls are Good and I have to stan" one) Also.. Wannabe got me into ITZY, and for a while I did think it's their peak song, even if it's not 100% their vibe? But it kinda fell off for me now, especially because of Not Shy and Loco and Voyage. It's still enjoyable and with a nice message tho, I'm just glad they keep one-upping themselves. Also I liked So What, and absolutely hated Why Not at first, now the former fell off and the latter grew on me lol.

Idk I honestly feel like one of the only people who think 2020 was an incredibly weak year for kpop. Much of the year was defined by anti-drop choruses, random annoying trap breakdowns, overused concepts such as dark and girl crush, and just overall pretty generic music for me. And actually out of all the songs that came out in 2020, Play by Chungha was my favorite (it's still one of my favorite songs ever), and that song was quite disliked by many. However, September-November 2020 brought me a year's supply worth of kpop thanks to the retro trend😊. And on that note, I'll try to think of music from those months when I think of 2020 kpop, because I think that every year may not be good but there are good things in every year, which is similar to something my math teacher said. I think 2016, 2017, and 2019 are still the best years of kpop though

Like-- the grps kept slaying and there and was not a single month without quality music, at least not for me. I've been an army for a year now, while also keeping up with other kpop comebacks and overall opinions. And I've noticed how bts can never make people content with their actions. I am just soo annoyed with all the unnecessary negativity towards them, that everything they do is portrayed as something weak. I just can't stand the judging culture in kpop, that everyone feels the need to give a comment on something or point out something they don't like instead of what they like. It just ruins the whole experience. Of course one could say I should just stop giving other positions attention, but when you are fan who likes other groups and k-tracks as well, it is constantly thrown into your face.
