THANK YOU!!! Someone who understands/acknowledges that sampling and plagiarism are not the same thing. Too many people have no clue as to how song production is behind the scenes and the interactions that happen leading to the full publication of a song. A lot of songs that sound similar are because of either using the same stems or using a stem from a song that was previously agreed upon being able to use.
@sabrinaleedance

The worst is when people cant even do the basic research behind songs producers/ and or writers before claiming plagiarism, so many times the 2 songs in question happened to be written bu the same ppl. You cant plagiarize urself lol

I think we should just always always ALWAYS get companies to be held accountable especially the big ones because smaller companies tend to copy what the big ones does. The big companies made what KPOP is today and it just makes sense that it will continue that way.

that's something i always tell new fans. "don't trust mr removed videos/audio because it's never accurate." honestly i have been a kpop fan since 2008 and i remember every few years or so there's a trend where people make fun of "live vocals" and they're mr removed videos. i can't ever take them seriously because mr removed videos really really REALLY (i am definitely stressing this word out) aren't reliable. not to mention people bring up these clips to "prove" an artist "sucks" on an idol they hate lol. and it frustrates me when people think of it as an actual legitimate source to find artists' "true voices".
@EmpressCosplay
@EmpressCosplay 3 жыл бұрын
This. Also, as someone who knows a thing or two about real time pitch correction (my friends are in the industry), we cannot trust someone's vocals as soon as it is not live sung in front of you and a microphone is involved. Real time "autotune" exists to even out vocals. KPop fans demand perfection and act all gasping monkey gif when someone tells them about how exactly that perfection is achieved. And idols NEED that pitch corrector. In the words of Idina Menzel "If you hit 50% of your notes, it's a good show!". Dancing those crazy choreographies and singing perfectly on pitch is IMPOSSIBLE. The first jump will upset your even notes. Also, yes, backing tracks also exist.

@joohoneybun

@@EmpressCosplay that's literally why i can't take mr removed audio seriously, i am a thousand percent aware that back tracking exists and that's the main thing you hear when you mr remove stuff. of course it's going to sound different, of course it's going to sound a bit weird possibly, because it's meant to aide the main vocals and provide support in the back. the problem is a lot of newbie kpoppers or people who don't fully understand how audio works don't understand that. that's why we need more videos of people explaining how it works and whatnot. i would make one but i am not like, an expert, lol. also yay hello fellow kpop grandparent :')) ❤️

Exactly, and aside your well-explained reason, another one would be that finance is not the main criteria to be part of the big 3 to begin with, as a lot seemingly assume, or else indeed Big Hit would have the throne, the crown and the scepter hands down. In reality, the big 3 detained a plethora of political connections in their sleeves throughout Asia and beyond, and not necessary the cleanest one. The sponsors concept in K-pop is not a little cherry on top of a cake, therefore those links and deals made behind the curtains are not about to stop anytime soon to assure them the stability to remain in power in the K-pop industry, having BTS and their incomes in their ranks or not.

- Hyuna & Dawn: I heard she openly spoke about their relationship at the time because people were accusing her of having improper behavior towards Dawn, they were calling her an abus**r and it was a way for her deny the allegations before it got out of hand, if she didn't talk about it then maybe the situation would escalate, it was unfortunate to be happening at the same time Pentagon was getting momentum, plus the horrible way Cube dealt the situation, but she didn't it selfishly as many say. - Sasaengs: They are pretty scary, and yes, thank you for reminding people that >some< fansites are also sasaengs, like the way they take great lengths to take idols photos in places they shouldn't be, eg: whenever they get on a plane and there's countless pictures at the airport but there's pictures in the waiting area after the security, to take those the fansites/sasaengs had to book a flight to be there and often it's the same one as the idols, so if you end up seing one of these from a fansite, they are sasaengs. Another tip to know if a fansite is actually a sasaeng is if they often hide the square at the bottom of the preview photos, since it can show how distant the camera was from the person being photographed, if they do it, they probably wasn't in a safe distance so they are hiding this info to not be outted as sasaengs. It's not actually that hard to imagine that there's possible more idols out there that are/were sasaengs, since if even here on the other side of the planet there's people that want to become idols just to be closer to people they are fans of and they would be sasaengs if they could, being on the same country and having an easy access to become trainee and eventually debuting in a group make me believe it's not a common case but it isn't that rare either. - Fake Ages: Lol, on the newest video on Wonho's personal channel it showed his birthday as 1992.3.1, so it kind of confirmed he also was a "victim" of Starship obsession of making the leaders the oldest member even if they actually aren't, besides the times he was referred by the other members as the oldest of Monsta X or the few instances where Shownu used hyung while talking to him.

I... got something to say regarding Stellar: the company is terrible, but the executives are not the only ones to blame. Hear me out. Marionette was a scandal, it actually got Stellar attention, and the group actually released two songs, Mask and Fool, before Vibrato. I think I remember Stellar members talking about how both Mask and Fool were largely ignored by the public because they were sexy but not out there to the same extent as Marionette. And the public, the audience - K-Pop fans - didn't want these songs or concepts. All the new "fans" Stellar had gained with Marionette were essentially demanding hypersexual concepts, and after two "flops", Vibrato and later Sting were released. The key point here is that fans, and in particular those who were there for "soft p**n", made exploiting the girls profitable (tragically). Therefore, fans also need to acknowledge their responsibility as they were the driving force behind the company's decision. If less provocative concepts had been a success, the fan community might have been able to stop this from happening. I'm not here to defend the company (I think it's Entertainment Pascal or something) - the executives made despicable decisions for personal gain. But it's not surprising that a company is supposed to generate profits, and that executives respond to consumers' demands. Again, their methods were terrible, despicable, disgusting, but the consumers (aka fans) had the power to not consume hypersexualized content and stop all of exploitation before it even started. In order to not let this happen again, can we all please be smarter consumers? As a community, we can let companies know what we want to see, and if we notice, one way or the other, that idols are uncomfortable, we can let our money speak while also spreading awareness.

Idk but I feel like a lot of fans don't really think about these idols and their feelings and judge them too harshly without attempting to understand or wrongfully placing them on a pedestal. I mean.. if somebody told you they'd make you famous if you got a nose job and pretended to be a year younger and couple inches taller I feel like a lot of people would overwhelmingly just roll with it. I’m mixed on Fanfiction. I do think it can get creepy and “mature”, but I also know that most the time it’s not the actual person, rather a Fortite skin of the idol (like Keanu Reeves as John Wick in that game). They use the person as a fill in of their character (and as a visual to help create characters). I’m an inspiring author and I use real/fiction characters all the time for to base my characters off of. Just as long as people realize it’s not the real person and what is stated is fiction, I don’t think it’s that bad. It’s creepy with “mature” scenes though and we have to call out the Fifty Shades Of Grey Series and After Series, since both are former fanfiction turned into a movie and published novels. But I don’t think people are saying the funfictions are the actual representation of the real people the based them off of.

Honestly the topics you have chosen I am super happy with, I actually had not heard of lots of these so learnt alot. I think the term Koreaboo is demonised but personally I think you can be a Koreaboo without wanting to be Korean. Like being into Kpop so much you Internet handle is a kpop term, Asian pfp, having special kpop social media like a KZfaq channel or TikTok, posting covers etc. I think that's pretty Koreaboo. I love that Heechul wrote fanfiction and likes it. I think people shouldn't take fanfiction or shipping so serious. Jimin and Jungyeon, I can actually see it being a thing tbf Miss A screaming man there is one of them in April Mayday. I won't speak on Jessica. Victorias spoon 😂 Just iconic. The 3 way lesbian triangle, I am all here for it. Yuri would be a fine addition to lesbianism, I hope if she is, she has a happy life. Stellar sexualisation is something that I am torn with. The girls have been open about all of this but the girls are not completely innocent in this. Yes, they are traumatised but they were also themselves desperate for the success, hence why they put up with it. I think it's very easy to be ashamed of something after you've done something but allow it at the time out of desperation for success. There is an element of desperation why idols allow and permit such treatment. Aswell as contracts of course. But we have to have to know that idols CAN leave or file suits. It happens alot. Yes it costs them, but it costs the company too. Really enjoyed the video as always! I look forward to part 2

And i just wanna make sure before there's any misunderstanding, when it comes to chinese members mistreatment i think jun and minghao's case isn't too severe like other idols, pledis still give them lots of freedom in creating their own project like solo songs, the8 with his contemporary videos, jun with his covers, and etc. also xcss is the one who manage their activities in china (not pledis directly).. im not trying to defend pledis or saying that it's a good company but as my observation jun and minghao are not being mistreated bcs that is a strong word, maybe more of a mismanagement in some cases
@jihoonscarat
@jihoonscarat 3 жыл бұрын
Well it’s gotten a lot better the past year or two but they used to be treated so badly. I talk about this in my Pledis video but they wouldn’t get promoted properly, on one occasion Pledis left jun alone at an airport for 24 hours because THEY screwed up his working permit. Here is a great thread about the shit they have done to jun :twitter.com/junhuiloops/status/1308113784108613632?s=21

about the plagiarism part - there's a very well known singer amongst young people in my country (israel) that actually copied the melody of one of shaun's songs... but the song the israeli singer sang was about his breakup with his (also super famous) gf, which is really funny. because kpop isn't really popular in my country, not that many people have noticed.
