You know what's wild, more international kpop fans are just discovering how talented this group is. It's like everyone gets in with the top 8 or 9 (bts blackpink twice exo etc) but once they've gone thru their deep dive and look for more in kpop then they get to mamamoo redvelvet loona etc. I'm basing this on seeing international reaction channels including a lot of mamamoo reactions. It's just my small sampling but I see the trend. We all know mamamoo are vocal queens.

Wheein's voice always stood out for me but that is because I love a lot of Soul and RnB music and her voice was made for it. I was surprised by Solar cause I did not think a strong loud voice could come out of someone so unexpected. She is so stable and powerful. Hwasa voice has so much colour. and brings in that unique flavour for Mamamoo. Moonbyul is reliable and I do hope she continues to use both her vocal and rapping talent. Rapping isn't easy and she continues to grow and master it. The fact she can both sing and rap is awesome. I often view the girls like this; Moonbyul is the foundation, Solar is the voice, Wheein is the glue and Hwasa is the colour. The thing about this group is they truly do understand that their voice is an instrument and they know how to use it.

Hmmm mamamoo never really abandoned their older sound. You’ll probably notice it when you listen to all their songs including their b-sides. You can still hear their older sound in all their albums albeit it has morphed bit by bit since it’s also mixed with the new sounds they are doing recently, but it’s still very much present. An example I can write right now is Better, High Tension from their Reality in Black Album, Dinga and even Travel from their Travel album.

Fun fact for you, Mamamoo and Red Velvet are actually friends. Their cars were parked next to each other once, so they just opened the doors and exchanged numbers (since they debuted around the same time). 😂 The most well-known friendship between them likely being Seulgi and Moonbyul. Moonbyul also likes to tease Irene for the fun reactions. The dream is to one day see who is greasier (cheesier) - Moonbyul or Wendy. 😆 Gosh, I miss MamaVelvet.

Early Mamamoo sounded the way it did because they were told that they would fail by all sorts of industry professionals and so they had to flex their vocals to the fullest extent. The 4 Seasons project is when they started to change their overall sound and started trying new things. I'm on board regardless but there are a lot of fans who don't like the newer songs because they don't have the same retro sound as the older songs. Of course a lot of fans don't actually listen to the full albums and so they don't understand how much of the older material actually exists. 😂 One thing I would love from Mamamoo is a B-side medley(I know Solar did one but there are a few she didn't get to) because of this. Like, we need a current live version of Baton Touch, No no no, Freakin' Shoes, I Love Too(watch if you need to cry: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/d62aqbCA1t7Jgmg.html), Finally, Midnight Summer Dream, and a million other amazing songs.

Mamamoo's immortal performances are just gold. They have flexed their voices openly and watching these clips doesn't do justice to their performances. Solar is personally my favourite vocalist in the group, since I just adore the tone of her voice and her versatility (Along with those powerful high notes, she also has an amazing head voice and lower register). I absolutely love each member's vocals though. They all bring something so unique and special to the table, I can't believe how lucky we are that they all ended up in the same group.
