This video shows the KR01, a skid-steer 4 wheel differential drive robot, executing a rotate-in-place movement using its PID controllers to accelerate to a set velocity counter-clockwise.
This is the last of the four rotate-in-place tests. This time I bothered to clean a patch of the polished wood floor as well as the robot's four silicon tires in order to maximise their grip. The KR01 weighs 3kg so its ability to skid-steer is hampered by the grip of its tires. The robot visibly shudders as it attempts to rotate in place, in clear contrast to its sister the KD01, which with its two wheels (and a third undriven caster) has no difficulty spinning cleanly in circles (see: • KD01 Rotate in Place Test )
