Kratos at that time was a god and had much more powers, but over time he was "nerfed" now only having strength and maturity, of course he still has powers but it is not the same

The result may not be like that, but it depends on each person's opinion and point of view, so I see Kratos as a younger, stronger, more active and braver person facing death head on.
