This scene is just so perfect. Kratos showing emotions, remembering his actions as he looks at his scars. He's tired, full of regrets, pent up emotions and getting old, almost vulnerable and feeble compared to the younger gods he's fighting. This is one of the first scenes we start to worry if Kratos will really die at the end.

Something worth noting Kratos drops the blades of chaos onto the floor without giving a crap about them But he gives a look at his axe and places it (although also rather angrily but that may be because of him being tired) instead of dropping it on the ground

I like how he pays no respect for the Chaos Blades, on the contrary to the axe. He always neglect them, he actively tried to destroy them, get away from them or hide them. And in this scene he drops them on the floor with clear disgust. It shows that it's not just a weapon for him

It’s almost like his hateful and killer nature is being released in a much better way, but it’s still there lurking deep in him. Scary really.

It's very interesting how he throws down the blades of chaos but yet respectfully puts down the leviathan axe can be a whole meaning on its own on his character progression

Notice how he casually discards the blades of chaos, dropping them on the floor, but very carefully sets down his axe. That in itself says a whole lot

Nice detail some may have missed: Notice how Kratos carelessly tosses the blades of chaos, signifying his dislike of his past and what the blades represent. Meanwhile he lays his wife's axe close to him, showing that he cares more about his present self and his wife, and who she was. Her legacy. Little things like that, are why this game is so amazing.

Now that I think about it, since Kratos spread the Power of Hope throughout the lands at the end of GOW3, perhaps Greece is still in tact some how. Most of the Gods are dead yes, but still it may be there because of it's people with the power of hope.

I like how he doesn't give a shit about the Blades but he shows a bit more sentiment for the Axe.

I love the detail of how they express Krato's emotions through his handling of his weapons. He carelessly tosses the blades of chaos on the ground, but takes care to inspect the axe.

He's one of the few characters that learned from his rage/anger/vengeance didn't give him no satisfaction even as he got older, he wished he can fix it all bit cant and must live with it and try to be better.

He dropped the Blades of Chaos because it's the weapons he used to accidentally kill Calliope and Lysandra, but he carefully place Leviathan because it's the memento Faye left for him to protect Atreus.

I like how Kratos tosses aside his chaos blades as if they’re nothing but takes a moment to look at the leviathan axe, holding onto it with a somber gaze before dropping it onto a barrel. He discards the past and holds onto the future.

And the only thing he can do is have to redeem himself as a monster - The axe symbolise his beloved wife, the one who saved him from his agony of Kratos' past. Even though it's just a bit - The chain scars symbolise his agony from his past, a lots of innocent people has been killed by Kratos beneath his vengeance - The scar on his stomach symbolise his ultimate sacrifice for Greek, after he finished his vengeance with the "Power of Hope", he sacrifice it for Greek to make sure Athena cannot take the power from Kratos - The scar on his eye symbolise his failure for saving his beloved brother from Ares, when he was a kid, when Ares were trying to take Deimos away from him, and when he tried to save Deimos, it's a vain

People are talking about the handling of the blades of chaos, but what I was floored by was the imagery of Faye and Atreus dissipating into embers, like the visions of Lysandra and Calliope, leaving Kratos alone as he looks at his ash covered hands in rapt horror. True PTSD.

It seems there are two separate scars on his abdomen. One much fainter then the other. Obviously one was made by Zeus and the other was Kratos himself. Although it seems there is no sign of the giant stake that Ares pinned Kratos to the door of Pandora's temple with.

Okay I’m happy that we finally get to see Faye in person. But I can’t be the only one who was expecting her to be either the same size as Kratos. Or taller than him.

Kratos Deserves his Happy Ending Far to many years of suffering for this man.

The way he tosses the blades of chaos to the floor, weapons that remind him of pain, while showing more care to his axe, a gift from his late wife, is a great show of character.

One thing I love about Kratos is that he has so many years and has seen pretty much everything but still keeps going. Kind of like Geralt of Rivia and Master Chief. They just bring that presence and way of thinking to the story.

Both Kratos and Faye are the kind of individuals that would be revered in writing across the ages for the life lessons they have learned. Others would pick up on it and decide its value is enough to pass on to future generations. Simply being near them would elevate your own imperfections and inspire you to do better. Such a shame these lessons are lost on so many people.

I've been a fan of Kratos from the first GOW his rage made him a powerhouse. Now after the last one before Ragnarok... God they gave him emotions, conflict, love, loss, doubt, everything. Christopher Judge did an awesome job at portraying Kratos...this game deserves all the awards it will win
