Rough Riders were a must-have unit in the halcyon days of 5th Edition Warhammer 40,000. There weren't really any great miniatures available for them, but we made do. Now that there's a bunch of really great options to take them in our games, they don't appear in Codex: Astra Militarum! Luckily, there are a bunch of great sci-fi themed tabletop games out there - one of my favourite alternatives is OnePageRules' fantastic Grimdark Future, where the Human Defence Force have access to cavalry and you can model them however you like... maybe something like this, even!

Turned out fantastic. Krieg and Steel Legion have always been my favorite guard. I used your steel legion to paint my Krieg for the new Kill Team. Their standard blue-grey look is nice and all, but the steel legion look, to me anyway, gives them and extra apocalyptic feel.

Ha! Wouldn't be the first time I've been called a bad influence, I suppose... ;D At least there's still licensed printers out there if you need any in the meantime, though a printer is a neat long-term toy.

Fantastic job! Love this mini! Nice and fun editing too. If I may suggest... I would like to watch one day a video of you talking about how do you choose to use one colour versus another of the same "base", Black Grey VS German Grey for instance (I thought that you were using the later), they look very similar to me but I guess that it (maybe?) does make a difference.

I wish there was an affordable hard plastic kit for motorcycles, alternative to taking from the GW Genestealer Cult biker kit. The only one I've ever found is from Warlord, who produce a kit of a biker gang. But it's mainly an "infantry" kit, with a few bikes per set. Not the worst way to acquire bikes for Rough Riders, but not great either.

I've had my eyes on the Helga on Wheels model from Privateer Press lately and this is nudging me in the direction to actually take the plunge

Bikes aren't nearly as much work as you'd think. I find them way simpler than horses!

Once again a lovely paint job. Learned so many ideas from watching your painting videos. My one grip and this is probably coming from a historical miniature painter, is no other weapon for the figure other then a lance. Either a side arm or since he has a motorbike, why not a rifle in a scabbard attached to the bike. Just think it would make the model even more interesting. Just look at how they were carried in WWI or WWII by motorcycle riders.

There's actually a couple of pistol holsters and a massive rifle holster included in the STL pack; I opted not to include it on the miniature mostly since it's already quite busy visually, but you're totally right. I think for my own army I'd put more gear on them!

@@SonicSledgehammerStudio Was wondering if it was just to make the painting a little easier and less busy like you said. Doesn't distracted from the painting at all that way. Next time I will just sit back and enjoy the painting.

They've got a few licensed printers around the world which will sell these in physical form. I didn't find a simple list of them anywhere, but you could contact them with where you are and they should be able to point you in the right direction.

Great stuff as always. I did, however, notice on this and your comparison video there's a faint discord notification sound popping up once in a while. Had me a little confused for a second.

Are you using the new aggrax ? If not, have you tried it and what are your thoughts?

Nope. I thought I'd mentioned in the video I was sticking to the old stuff, but I might have snipped that. All the comparisons of the new shades with the old look like they perform differently to what I've got, so I'll use my reserves and then swap to Strong Tone. The same price on a pot for 25% less is a bit bloody cheeky.

@@SonicSledgehammerStudio I paint along with your videos pretty often. It’s nice to have a Bob Ross for my miniature painting. However, the new aggrax and nuln formulas are (in my opinion) just plain bad. So….. here’s my thought, what if we figured out a mixture that was available to everyone that worked as similarly as possible? Sort of like “marine wash” I made that upon your recommendation and love it! So what if the new aggrax could be mixed with a few other drops and drizzles and made into a similarly magical concoction? Caaaaaause I don’t like strong tone for similar reasons to why I don’t like the new aggrax. The medium is similar I think

Out of curiosity did you use pre supported files or did you make your own? I've been having issues getting Station Forge's models to print properly, though I do have a Mono X

I've always used the pre-supported files without trouble, though I do have a crazy low lift speed for the first 2mm distance on each layer. My lift is only 25mm/s so it takes its time and doesn't yank anything free, it's great for high detail and low exposure times.

@@SonicSledgehammerStudio Thanks! I'll have to give that a try, I normally don't have issues with presupported files but with how many layers Station Forge uses I tend to have a lot of "mid print" failure, like legs not printing fully etc. I'll have to try shortening the lift time.
