Ah yes, my favourite Borderlands Character Craig the Psycho.

Since Krieg gets so much out of having his shields down, using the Rough Rider is also a good idea, as the game interprets it's capacity of zero as Krieg's shields being down at all times, so he always has his mountain of bonuses active.

If you guys did not know sheriff's badge pistol firerate buff applies to the axe throwing speed. Thats a 40% buff in firerate for throwing a massive damaging axe.

playing as krieg could be both maddening and insanely epic at the same time haha. you can't play him at all like any other borderlands character. thats why so many people hated him i think. if you stick with it though and learn how he works it's the best character by far imo. the key is you have to think and fight like a psycho.. see a huge mob of enemies with several badasses? YAY RUN RIGHT INTO THE MIDDLE OF THEM SWINGING AND YELLING!! nobody could dispatch a horde of baddies as quickly and thoroughly as krieg. hitting yourself in the head is one of those hilarious psycho touches that could be annoying as hell, (especially when the game is evil and makes you hit yourself 2 or 3 times in a row) but just adds that much more chaos and hilarity to the experience. and it's awesome hearing his "sane" inner voice say things after he hits himself like, "i deserved that.' lol

It would be cool if krieg's class mod actually replaced the blade on his buzzaxe

10/10 would recommend the Rough Rider shield for Kreig. Easy to farm, requires the Hammerlock DLC, is a shield with a capacity of 0 (so you are getting all those sweet shieldless boosts all the time) Greatly increases health, AND gives a full 20% damage reduction to EVERYTHING. No better way to go RIDE THE MEAT BICYCLE!

I highly recommend the Rough Rider shield, you fully benefit from all of Krieg's 'when shield is down' skills, you get additional health and 20% damage reduction. It's a wonderful shield to use for Krieg, especially in OP levels.

If you didn't know the skill Fuel the blood also massively buffs your buzz axes melee damage when thrown if you have speced in to Buzz axe bombardier as seen here 17:34 just saying

Personally, skip blood trance. You can constantly reach full health simply by reactivating release the beast, which you get invincibility while doing, and you do way more often without blood trance.

Silence the voices :/ Love hate relationship. Sometimes I can melt all of da peasants but sometimes I hit myself in the head 3 times in a row. Also, it isn't the damage from the 12% that hurts but the time you're vulnerable.

The rubi or the grog nozzle pair really well with this build, just hold the gun in your hand and you will be regaining tons of health for doing insane melee damage. I also love having the magic missile with Krieg

Silence the voices definitely isn’t one to ignore, in terms of self damage it’s more of a frustration element. The amount of times where I needed a hit to stay alive and Krieg hit himself and downed me is ridiculous. It happens when you really don’t want it to and can get very annoying. On the other hand it feels completely random as I’ve hit myself 3 times in a row before and also completely wiped out a group of 20+ enemies without hitting myself once so it’s a very high risk reward build with Krieg. But damn it’s fun.

Awesome video! I was struggling with Krieg for a while, but after watching this and respec-ing to match, he's my favorite vault hunter to play. Also, I've found that the Rough Rider shield really compliments this play style 0 max capacity, massive damage reduction and increased max health. So all your skills for when shields are down are always active.

I beat this game before all the DLC was released and didnt play it again until about a week a go, i bought the collection so i got this guy and i said the same thing "no way you can play as a Psycho" and picked him right away :)

Btw, the love thumper is a good shield to use because it takes about 4 minutes to start to recharge, but it also has bonus roid damage when it’s depleted. And if you other viewers want to know how to get it, you need to go to overlook, take on the stalker quest on the bounty board, then when you complete it, you need to kill random stalkers in the highlands, then one should drop an echo, which gives you the mission to kill Henry the stalker, when you complete it, you get the love thumper, and Henry has a legendary drop.

Love thumper is a really nice shield for him it is a melee shield and it does novas everytime you melee an oppenent when your shield is empty and it has a massive recharge delay

If only the disorienting effect from Silence the Voices wasn't as long and so visually cumbersome, the skill would be more manageable

I just started my playthrough with krieg and this will help me alot, I'm going to tweak some things but I also have an app on my phone that is a borderlands 2 skill tree builder. So I can play around with what points I want in what skills without actually doing it in game. It's quite a helpful app. But I'm already learning that I need rely on my melee and not guns with krieg. Guns are just for distant enemies until you get close enough to hit them. I'm looking forward to getting him leveled up

there's a shield that heavily increases your health at the cost of no shield I find it works really well with krieg an his bonuses for depleted shield

When I was playing it, I've been using that one assault rifle from the pirate DLC. It increases your melee damage by 200%. Not sure if this also adds to Blood axe rampage. I think, the Psycho is the strongest class of all. (Though the hardest to play) He can take the most damage and can deal the highest damage of all, especially the Bloodlust Master skill gives him the opportunity, to ANIHILATE groups of enemies and to 1 hit enemies like Pete the Invinceable. But I think, his weakness are most boss fights, not sure though.

Kreig was my favorite borderlands 2 character. His tree with the bad ass psycho ability, is by far the best one.

I would also recommend not levelling directly into this build during a normal playthrough. Thrill of the Kill and Fuel the Rampage become irrelevant once you have Release the beast, but until then they are useful for keeping you in psycho mode. Also; Silence the Voices isn't good until you have 4-5 points into it, it's just not worth it until then. Respeccing Krieg as you're levelling is an incredibly good idea.

Recently started playing BL2 again and tried Krieg for the first time. Glad to see the build I went intuitively was extremely close to this one (only level 32 but following the same path). Going to swap out a few of the talents I picked since the ones you pointed out are probably better. Guns in general are pointless but I've found that any gun with a high slag chance and a melee damage mod has been the best so far. Shoot a few times, slag them then crush

I don't know why it annoys me so much when people pronounce his name Craig but it just really does. his name is pronounced Kreeg. Like you make a long E noise in the middle, not an ai noise.

Any of the skill trees are great for all types of different builds to mix and match he’s good with melee and using guns with crazy amount of Fire rate and mag size with crazy DPS definitely one of the best characters in the borderlands franchise made him my main when he first came out many years ago. Wish we had something like him in borderlands 3 he was so different and just worked so good

Flame of the firehawk shield is amazing. Your shield recharge delay is going to be like 10-15 seconds, and the FoF is constantly pushing out massive damage during that time. So for 15 seconds, you put out massive damage just by taking damage

i personally like putting a point into the fight for your life tnt skill

I would consider that if you do not wish to use a roid shield (love thumper being one of the best), but recommend adaptive shields for the health, the rough rider would be very useful. the 35% firerate does nothing for you when using buzz axe rampage, so you can switch those points to something else like strip the flesh (15% isn't much, but it is still something...) but that is just my 2 cents, good build video!

I haven't seen it in the comments yet but I just want to add that Blood-filled Guns triggers with elemental effects. So basically, spamming a Maliwan all over the place will increase your stacks exponentially faster.

Why make rampage longer? You want it to end quicker so that you can refill your health faster.

Just recently got borderlands 2 on the Xbox one and love this build

Having the skill that puts dynamite on Krieg's buzzsaw is really good for counter-acting salt the wound. Salt the Wound buffs Kreig's thrown saws as well, so the explosion winds up doing nearly as much damage as a regular melee on all but the toughest of targets... And Krieg has a 0% chance to hit himself as it is not a regular melee.

I stayed away from the hellborn tree

If you wanna try a melee build pre 30 you definitely need the skill on the second row on the right witch reduces the cooldown on your rampage by damage taken and 2x if its health damage taken (also adds and includes friendly fire damage wich is a bit double edged and you should remove it when you pass 30 and have that instant recharge ) because standard cooldown is 2 minutes and without being invincible yet your likely to fall and up having to wait another 2 mins

If you are going for a lvl. 50 Krieg i actually think that you should go for a mania/hellborn build. Not getting the bloodsplosion is actually really big and the other bonuses are not powerful enough to outweight the early bonuses from the hellborn tree.

You don’t need both the increases to shield recharge delay if you’ve spec’d into Hellborn like you did. You shield won’t recharge if you are constantly taking fire damage.

I really wanna like Krieg, and I did enjoy playing as him, but UVHM was one of the worst things that could have happened to him. Melee Kreig and even Hellborn is fun to play as, but once you start playing at OP levels he gets almost annoying to use. I just really wish more of his skills didn't have so many fucking variables and drawbacks, ie Silence the Voices, and most of the Hellborn skill tree. I just think it's kind of stupid to have to damage yourself to do damage. This is especially aggravating when you're playing OP levels and your fucking doesn't scale up with the game, so doing damage to yourself is the last thing you wanna do, when almost everything can 1 shot you. Not to mention most of his Melee builds are completely useless against raid bosses and to an extent flying enemies. An easy fix would have been to just take out the whole bullshit idea of having to be on fire to get those fire weapon buffs, and even go as far as giving his Buzzaxe the ability to cause fire DOT. Also instead of STV hurting you it should have almost a Reaper effect to it and it does increased damage to enemies who are above 50% health. Also they could have added increased movement speed with the Taste the Blood and you get 1% or even 2% movement speed increase per stack of Bloodlust. Moving that fast would mitigate getting killed before you get to enemies, since you can close distance so quickly. That would also completely change the pace of the game for people who play as Krieg and truly let you feel the since of Berserker rage he's going through during Buzzaxe Rampage. I just feel like that would have been cool to see. He's still an awesome character though. And this was a great build for him.

I like using the rough rider shield from hammerlock's big game hunt. Regardless of it's level, it always has Zer0 Shield strength. Just my choice, I mainly use just Roid shields like the mother's day shield or H.O.T. shield.

I think buzzaxe bombardier and bloodsplosion both count as grenade damage which means that fuel the blood would increase the damage of both of them by alot

You are so wrong about silence the voices. Downing yourself half the time is not worth it.

10:40 ~ I feel like if you did a mix instead of putting all 3 into 1, that way u have a better chance, and your melee can set them on fire, so you'll have an EVEN BETTER chance

you can only put 4 points into fuel the blood and with the 1 point in buzz axe bombardier you can go down the rest of the skill tree and have 15 points to put into whatever instead of 14

The way i have my psycho built is I can infinitely abuse my buzz axe rampage by damaging my self or getting my team to do so by maxing out the ability that causes your enemies to basically have friendly fire against you

Krieg had a lot of possibilities, this is why I like it. The 3 skill tree are balanced. The first one, is good for guns and kills, the second for melee, and the 3th for healing with fire damage.

If you have the Law Revolver with the Order Shield equip, the Law will add 100% melee damage and the Shield will make it so whenever you melee people with the Law, it will heal you, alot, on hit will probably heal all your health instantly.

The points in the Hellborn Tree and points in Embrace the pain are just a waste. Put points in Thrill of the Kill and the Explosive Buff in the Mania tree, you're good then. Also, if you farm for the Roughrider shield, you should be good.

U can put 4 into fuel the blood then 1 into buzz axe bombardier and still get the next set of skills and save an extra point to spend

I know this is from two years ago, but I only have two words for this video: Love Thumper. Aside from that, great guide.

I would use the rough rider shield with it as well, shield capacity = 0, so Empty the rage and Embrace the pain are always on, Salt the wound is on as well as all damage is to health and damage reduction of 20% is good, however it is only gotten from Hammerlocks DLC from memory so you need to get that DLC.

I would recommend a law dropped by the sheriff of lynchwood that has 100% melee damage combined with the order shield so when you attack melee with the law you regain a lot of health

The crazy thing about bloodsplosion, its that novas can set another novas, so basically you can make a nasty nuclear chain reaction, sincero your melee Is nuclear powered strong.

Math tip for a 5 year old video: To easily multiply a simple decimal like 7.5 by 20, simply multiply by 10, then by 2. This makes it 75, and then 150. Or, adding two 50s, and two 25s together. Basically try to break it up into easier parts.

I think I made a pretty good build with Krieg a while back I called "Undying Suicide Krieg" so pretty much I'd get some super buffs from taking damage and friendly fire and would never die. It was super op as I pretty much carried my 2 friends with it to about lvl 42 till we stopped playing and I never invested fully to it.

You can also use the shield that has 0 capacity and gives you 20% dmg reduction. That stacks with all the other stuff and it'll make you pretty much invincible, plus give you all the 0 shield bonuses all the time.

This was very useful. Gave me some good ideas in how to perfect mine.

Op8 thumper with overkill heal perk and the two hit system you cannot die and you will not need to use silence the voices so you can keep swinging until your stick breaks

if you try beat terormorphis with your friends kreig is really good because when terrormorphis does the black hole move he sucks everyone towards him but not krieg because he is a heavier character.

For a shield I prefer the terramorphous shield because it got nova damage, spike damage and most importantly roid damage. That schield works great together with the meele tree

In Badass Psycho Mutant mode, once you have thrown a few axes, you can start throwing them at your feet to do damage to yourself, allowing you to instantly go back into badass psycho again
