Still remember this match watching on Doordarshan when i was in 3rd standard..Nostolgia gripping.. Nobody can replace Azhar' stylish rist work eventhough Lakshman was quite near to him.

If Azar would have play at no 3 position n with out captaincy headache he would have been the bestest after Tendulkar probably the best if he would have focused on his batting. Just I love his game.

Gavaskar's strike rate was below 50 this game. Indian bowlers did a great job. Particularly Chetan Sharma. Batsmen got the credit for chasing a low total.

He was playing cricket far ahead of its time. I think he was the only player in that era who was playing with more than 100 strike rate. He was a very good fielder. I still remember he took a brilliant one handed low catch of Aamir Sohail in 1992 world cup.

It was on this tour that Gavaskar declared the Indian innings closed just as Azharuddin was about to complete his 4th vonsecutive century..he was on 98 or 99.. Ass whole Gavaskar.

It was in 1984-85 when Azhar made debut against David Gower's English team, after scoring 3 consecutive hundred at Kolkata, Chennai and Kanpur. It was in second inning of Kanpur when Azhar was unbeaten on 54 then only declaration came from Sunil Gavaskar. So it was saying he deprived of getting his 4th ton. The present video is all about summer of 1986, this time Indian Captain was Kapil Dev not Sunil Gavaskar. I still remembered how Azhar sported light beard in this bread which unusual of him though. This match l had seen on Doordarshan during my summer vacations of class 5. Golden Era indeed.
