About Dream Temple:
hOm wants to welcome you to experience a new style of event in their sound healing series titled Dream Temple. An “eyes open” sound healing experience involving a rich exploration of ambient music, sound healing, cymatics, and immersive visuals projected and performed in the sanctuary of Old First Presbyterian Church in collaboration with The Fuse Factory for artist Krista Faist’s artist residency.
In Ancient Egypt, Dream temples were considered healing sanctuaries. People would be prepared by means of ritual for a hypnotic state and given suggestions to induce dreams, thought to be sent by the gods. The priest would interpret their dreams and cast out evil spirits from the body and mind.
The Ancient Greeks also had sleep temples. They would follow a special sleep ritual to incubate good dreams and spend the night in a classical temple dedicated to the healing god Aeslepius. Their dreams would be interpreted by a therapute - an early form of therapist who made a diagnosis.
So we invite you into our Dream Temple experience, blurring the lines between the dream and the dreamer (and to celebrate Jesse’s birthday). An experience that can be described as otherworldy, psychedelic, mystical, spiritual, and surreal.
