Those cheap sequels and "mid-quels" to classic films from Walt's era or even the Renaissance Era of the 90s will NEVER count towards the animated features canon made by the Walt Disney Studios. Those official sequels you mentioned are indeed canon towards the animated originals.

Actually, It's not even the first Disney musical sequel to have a theatrical release. The jungle book 2 (2003) had a theatrical release and it was a musical.

All the other animated sequels you’re thinking of were done by a smaller animation branch owned by Disney, either DisneyToons or Walt Disney Television Animation.
