I get so frustrated with people that criticize others for “thrifting and depriving the truly needy”. Non profits that typically run thrift stores benefit from the sales of the donated goods. They do NOT cater to selling to the needy. The money made from sales, funds programs that benefit the needy. You keep doing what you love and what works for your sweet family. I just LOVE your videos! Thank you for sharing your family with us ❤️

Exactly! Thrift stores need everyone to shop at them so they can finance their programs for those in need. Plus you are keeping things in use and out of the landfill.

Yes! I thrift because I enjoy it and when they ask me at the cash register if I want to round up my bill I always say yes and add a few more dollars to it. It's not for "needy people" only, the purpose is to make money of all these donated goods and use it for the good of others. No matter who the buyer of the donations is. Great video Kristen!

I grew up way below the poverty line. My single parent mom thrifted and made over clothing for us 5 girls. She bought good quality items that were adult sizes and would make one dress into two smaller sizes for us. We had very little in our home but it was always well kept. People thought we had more because we had nice clothing. There were even times she made us summer dresses out of thrifted table cloths. So sorry there are some who have to make comments that aren’t nice. Unhappy people try to bring others down. I’m 60 years old and really appreciate your channel. My husband and I understand what it’s like to make choices, not sacrifices, that allow me to be home. I’ve always thrifted for my home and clothing. People think we’re wealthy when we aren’t. For someone to assume there is wealth, that’s a compliment.

You do look wealthy but that’s because you’re so beautiful and put together. Truthfully, you’re probably one of the most beautiful women I’ve ever seen. I didn’t expect you to be so beautiful inside! What a wonderful example of character for your girls.

I also think you always look put together, your home is beautiful, I thrift, too, been married 42 years and have always thrifted, have 2 adult sons and 2 grandsons. @@KristenHoffman Yes, there absolutely is! In my previous married life, we were wealthy, but I was horribly unhappy in that marriage. I found myself indulging in a LOT of retail therapy, it made me happy in the moment, but once all the bags were opened and the items put away, I was still miserable. I ended that marriage and several years later, God brought the most wonderful man in to my life. We aren’t wealthy by any means, but we make good choices (lots of thrifting) with our money and have all that we need and more. Money does not make a person happy.

When my husband & I first married we vowed to pay cash for everything we could and try to have only one car payment at a time. (Of course separate from carrying a mortgage) As we became more financially stable we continued this, if we couldn’t afford it we didn’t get it & to this day, 24 years later, it’s how we live our life. Just because we are way more comfortable now doesn’t mean it’s time to be frivolous with our finances. I love your “intentional living”.

I thought late 20’s ! 🥰 You are such a sweetheart in every way imaginable…I adore your sense of humor! You say what I think 👍😂 My husband and I lived below the “poverty level” for years so I could stay home with our children. I never regretted any of it! People can say what they want…but my ( OUR ) children were our number one priority. I can’t wait to hear how you and Josh met ! Your whole family is loved and it is a special treat when Josh comes on! God bless ! And thanks for sharing 💛🙏🙏💛

I love your channel because I can see on your face and through your sweetness that you love Jesus and are a wonderful mother. I love when your children come to you when you are filming, love hearing their sweet voice. There was a time when people looked down on you if you bought at what they used to call in the South a second-hand store, but with inflation and the most recent recession you began to see people who did have more money shopping in them as well as "dollar stores" and my husband and I noticed that. We as a young couple struggled to make ends meet as well but have ended up with a beautiful life, raising two great children and owning a home we love and God has always provided. You always look beautiful and well dressed and I think it is great that you know how to do that on a budget instead of going into debt to buy name brand clothes. You are blessed beyond measure and I am so happy for you, as others should be as well. Kindness matters!

Kristen - thank you so for sharing so much about yourself. Love learning more about a fellow home town girl. I am also born and raised in Omaha - lived in CB for a few years but back in Omaha now. There are so many great things about being from the Midwest. I have thrifted all of my adult life - especially when I had my kids (32 and 36 years ago). I have been a single mom most of their lives - so saving those extra dollars has saved me and taught my kids how to live inexpensively. I tried selling crafts and thrifted finds in a booth for while for fun - but wasn't making much- so now just enjoy filling my home with treasures.

Same goes for my house; guest would see my home beautifully decorated and say that I have a good paying job to be able to afford it all. Now I just leave the Good Will price sticker on all my home decor items.

I have been thrifting since I was 19 years old, so that is 45 years! I just love it, also with the great concern for saving the planet, I feel I am contributing to that cause as well. Used to be back in the day we didn't pay taxes on second hand stuff either so economically it was wise as well, and still is. I have had comments about "having money" as well, the truth is I am just a good picker. lol Thanks for sharing with us Kristen, God bless you.

Thanks for your Q and A video. You were so kind and honest in answering the questions. People can be so judgmental that I hope there is no criticism in any way. There is trauma in transparency, but I am sure there are many “kindred spirits” out there. I love thrifting too; it’s the hunt and saving money that makes it fun.🥰

Good for you guys to be fruitful! That's definitely the narrow path nowadays. People can't believe we live below the poverty line, I chalk it up to us being frugal too and the way you carry yourself also matters. How funny that you were a graphic designer, that's what my husband does! It was great to get to know you more, just confirms to me that I was right in following your channel and enjoying your content. You're a woman after my own heart. Love from Indiana!

I will openly admit when I first found your channel and watched a video I assumed ‘oh here’s a beautiful young wealthy woman thrifting because it’s ‘in’ and I am so sorry for that mindset. I am so nonjudgmental and this was an eye opener for me because apparently I do assume things. Thank you for being so open and honest. I’ve enjoyed your channel and love when I hear you talk about being awkward and nerdy because I am too lol You have a gentle calming way about you and it’s relaxing and calming to watch.

It's so nice to get to know you! Kristen!❤️ Your videos are so honest and refreshing and you are such a sweet reminder of the gratitude we all need to have for everything we've been given. That it's not about the things, but about the people and the experiences we can share. And most of all, about living the way Jesus wants us to live. ❤️🌹

Enjoying this "get to know you" type video and hope that you might share more similar Q&A videos like these maybe about yourself, or your family or your background, your interests, fun things you do with your family, more about Omaha, your farm house etc. I've never been to the Midwest and am really curious what life out there is like compared to where live in the Bay Area in California. I'd also love to know more about your family's financial journey - and how you took the Dave Ramsey financial peace course and put it into action and how it helped your family. I too am a huge Dave Ramsey fan here and I think he is quite popular so I think others may enjoy that type of a video too and it could really help the algorithms too!

You're one of my favorite KZfaqrs ❤️ I also find great joy in thrifting; I adore antiques and think it's one of the best ways to aquire them! The thrill of the hunt haha I'm 27 btw and definitely don't think you're too old for KZfaq. I like your videos just as they are. I don't think videos have to be perfect or polished to be enjoyable when the content is fun! Which yours is. 👍🏻 I'm a Christian too and like that you talk about it on your channel.

i really think filming some of the work you do on your beautiful home and decorating with all of your thrift finds could help grow your audience too. i’ve watched so many channels blow up simply by buying a house and filming the diy remodeling on a budget. ppl love to see it! 💕

You’re such a doll. You’re so humble and absolutely gorgeous. I’m 58 this Tuesday and I have 3 grown daughters. No grandchildren yet. I’m a staunch antique furniture lover. My house is 122 years old and modern furniture just doesn’t work in this sweet cottage. I was an interior designer for 31 years. People always think that if you’re an interior designer, you’re wealthy and a snob. I’m not a snob lol. I was originally a police officer and during my career working in a men’s prison, I got injured really bad and so I decided to go back to school and started a second career while I was still an officer. So I am blessed to have two pensions and that’s pretty much my main income, but I took in my 98-year-old neighbor Ruby who was 96 at the time but I’ve been taking care of her for almost 7 years to live with me. She will be 98 on my birthday. God has a funny way of putting strangers together. It’s a side hustle provided to me by God because he said to take care of the widows and the orphans. my house is a lot like yours with the abundance of attic space and basement space. Most of the basement is now a home gym instead of a garage as it’s a walkout basement. And the other half is all full of the original owners canning shelving. I have cabinets and canning shelving everywhere down there. And since I am a prepper I took advantage of this house when I found it and God blessed me with it. I love seeing what you’ve done to your home and your love for Jesus. Anyone who comes into my home knows immediately I love Him as I talk about Him with everyone. Love your change and how sweet you are. I’ve been asked to share my home with people on KZfaq but being a peace officer I’m very concerned about privacy.

I'm so glad I found your channel! I was a stay-at-home mom when our children were small, therefore I had to be thrifty. Now that I have nearly grown grandchildren, I still love a good bargain! Not being very creative, I love to watch you and other KZfaqrs to get great ideas. And I love that you follow our Lord and give Him credit for all that is good!
