One thing Kristen has inspired me to do is go through my decorations and purge anything that is too childish or doesn't coordinate with my usual color palette and decor. No kids here, so I'd like a more subtle and grown-up aesthetic.

Looks lovely, it really does. But, I fell into a bit of a rut with the cohesive color pallate in my home. I decided to paint my main living spaces almost white over the summer. For the fall, I bought everything orange and redish-brown...pillow covers, pumpkins, blankets, garlands. It was beautiful to see traditional colors again. I started decorating for Christmas this weekend...so red flowers and blankets and green curtains and pillows and red ornaments. Such a breath of fresh air. Why have we become so afraid of color?

I'm going to try zip tie my garland to my stairs. I never got it to work with command hooks before so this is a great idea. I like the tension rod idea as well! Thank you for all the inspo!

I am South African living in Australia. My colour scheme, for most of my adult life, is earthy. Browns, burnt orange and tinges of green. Year in year out. I love trees and so I have branches and silhouettes of trees. I love those brown Christmas decorations and I will definitely get some this year. Our Christmas is hot, often humid.

Oh my gosh! A trip down memory lane for me 😊 32 years ago when we had our first daughter, I put 🎀 pink bows on the tree (very popular) and those real looking candles 🕯️ but they were all strung together and so expensive 😅.
