I totally agree with you. I shoot my recurve bow instinctively, and I wouldn't want to shoot any other way. It would take away from the feeling of awe when you make that perfect shot and you know that you got that arrow there with skill, talents, and hours of hard work. Not with sights and releases, all sorts of nifty gadgets.

I agree, if I wanted to use optical sights and stabilisers to hit a dime at 18 meters I'd get a rifle (well, I have several but that's not the point). There's nothing like tagging a deer on the gallop at 60 meters with a naked compound bow.

trying to tag a moving target @ 60m is poor bow hunting, your arrow flight would take about 0.7 seconds, lose most of it's power and be as accurate as a drunk pissing off a 60 story building. Also, compound bows by themselves negate your point. All they are is a mechanical modification to a recurve bow. No different than using release aids, stabilisers and sights. If you want to play the "skill" game, go make your own bow, string, shafts, arrow heads and vanes. Buying a bow is cheating, using a compound bow is cheating. It's all irrelevant in this day and age. If everyone is using release aids, sights and stabilisers, the best of the best is still that, as there is no advantage.

Confide92 Just because your bow has sights on it doesn't you have to use them. You can still shoot instinctively. Also, you can always find another place to shoot when you want to shoot with out sights.

Those are clickers. They are designed to let the archer know when they've drawn the arrow back far enough to help increase consistency.

They wouldn't do that, that would be against the rules or something. Here's how it works, if it hits the line it is considered that number so at 8:30 it hit the line so it was considered a 9.

That would make no sense. You're awarded the points for the area you hit. Even if only grazing it, you still hit that area, as the line is considered part of it. Same concept as if you hit a bullseye: it's a bullseye regardless of whether you hit dead center or to the edge.
