Fireweed!!! I'm from Alaska and it is by far my favorite flower....but challenging to paint! I think the Larkspur in this video is helpful, but the Fireweed has a very unique center with a cross-shaped little frill thing. Perhaps you could help me learn to paint my cherished flower?

I started water colour painting of flowers a few years ago. I just watched KZfaq to help me understand some of the basic techniques, but your videos have helped me understand that there’s a lot more to learn to make my paintings better. I am 78 yo and painting keeps me busy and hopefully from getting dementia later on. Thanks so much for sharing your videos and ideas. I loved all the flowers that you painted and hopefully I could improve my painting specially on daffodils and carnations which I tried painting before. I just taught myself how to paint and need to learn more. Thanks so much for sharing 🙏🙏💕💕

Wow Kristy I sure am glad I found your channel. I have been wanting to learn watercolor but have been so overwhelmed. You make it easy. Not only that but you're not just a painter. You are a poet, a prophetess and a color romancer all in one big package. I can't believe you held me captive for 50 some minutes. It seemed live 5. I myself am a poet with over 20,000 poems under my pen. Now I want to paint my poetry with different scenes. I am really interested in painting abstract faces and wierd looking bugs. LOL Well anyway I will be watching way more of you. Not only that but you like totally inspired me to start a KZfaq channel and present my poetry as artwork. Wow never thought of that before! I have way too much word art to share with the world and its been sitting in bags for over 10 years. Love your personality. You deserve all the success in the universe!!!!!!!!!! Steve J.

Oh my goodness! This is such great practice for me because my internal struggle is perfectionism and rigid organization. My spice cabinet and pantry are alphabetized and everything in my closets and drawers are like soldiers at inspection. When I first saw your watercolor palette, my internal voice said 😱!!! I cringe and tighten my shoulders when I accidentally smear one color over another. 😂 Oh, wow, I have a long way to go in regards to relaxing and “don’t worry about that drop of water. Turn it into an amazing leaf.” Your style of teaching is perfect for me. I’m so insecure about every stroke and color blend. My one art class was in college. As an elementary special education major, I had to take the beginning Art 101 class that the Art Majors and Fine Arts Majors had to take. Our professor was a perfectionist - and my grade reflected my inexperience and inability to create acceptable, (to him), assignments. That “2.0” on my formerly “4.0” GPA took a couple of years to bring back up, and it felt so unfair. Of course, compared to those amazing artists, I was a fumbling toddler; but I felt demeaned, and inept. It kept me from continuing with painting and coloring kinds of crafts. You are helping me get through the PTSD that class gave me. Thank you so much!!!

I have just begun learning to paint with watercolor, and I feel there are so many rules, but I am truly enjoying the journey thus far! I was following along with your video and when you started painting the daffodils I was right there with you - up til you painted 7 flower petals on it. your photo example even shows 6 outer petals. I only know this as I was learning to paint daffodils years ago while I was painting rocks with a group. I always liked to look up photo examples for my subject, because I try to keep whatever it is, to be an accurate representation of the painting I paint. I just wanted to tell you about the six petal phenomenon that are daffodils. I will continue watching your videos, I enjoy your enthusiastic style of painting and teaching. Thank, you!!
@KristyRice
@KristyRice 4 ай бұрын
I don’t pay attention to those type of details all the time. Still looks like a daffodil so I’m happy. I’ve found it so helpful on my journey to start with a reference photo for an overall vibe but I don’t continue looking back at the photo as I’ve learned this causes me stress and steals my joy. It’s funny this video has been popular but also has garnered so much concern for how many daffodil petals I included and my non-morning glory type leaves. Interesting phenomena! Thanks so much for watching!

As a beginner it's easy to get "stuck" on one color... but the beauty of watercolors is that blend of colors. And your side instructions inside the video, i.e. leaves, teardrops, etc. are so helpful. Really glad I found you! Can't wait to see your others... but I just had to stop and write. THANK YOU!

Really love how free you are with this. Wouldn't mind seeing an Iris since that is my home state's (TN) flower, but the passion flower is my state's "wild" flower. The passion flower is lots and lots of wriggly strand looking things, and the center seems to be the focus of this flower with the petals just a skirt around it.

I must say, I love your tutorials! I usually work differently and more structured with my watercolors, but I wanted to switch it up for filling the last pages of my sketchbook and this video just killed it for that! I had so much fun with my paints and I think I've never really let them flow. Thank you for this little painting- retreat! :)

I received my brushes yesterday, and I love them. I did a small paintingI using only the cat's tongue and the liner brushes. I really enjoyed using these brushes, Kristy. I was surprised that I liked the cat's tongue as it it is stiff. However, both brushes were a hit. Thank you very much.

Dear Kristy, I just found U. I mean the new line of watercolor U. I have your coloring books that are lovely. I came across your page by accident, as am in a block, have not been painting for a month. Said I need a refesher course in flowers 🌺. And there you were doing a tutorial about how to paint 5 or 6 flowers step by step. I fell in love with your approach. I am a very loose watercolor artist. Not to good at times, not to bad at times, you no how it goes.But you dear Artist are doing a banger job.Now after all that my question is are you going to show us all the flowers, most of us are in need to refresh. Well I will not keep you any longer, as I have Subscribed, and must get back to Kristy,s Paintbrush, by Love.

You inspire me to take chances and boy do I make a lot of mistakes! But each day I like my work a little better. 68 and never painted so really starting from square one. Thank you for your guidance and helping me to relax while I paint! Hoping to take the “flatness” away from my work…practice makes happy!

This one I'm going to actually sit down and follow! Buttercups are my favorite flowers, you know the wild heritage version of a daffodil. The trumpet stands up and they are all yellow. I have tried painting these a few times but wasn't happy but I think you are right that I have to add different shades. In order to define the petals. I once heard an art teacher say, most paintings could be masterpieces but they are never finished. It's when you think your done that you have to return and finish the painting. Anyways thanks for this tutorial. When I follow it I will leave an update on how I did. 💖

You are an amazing teacher! So I finally pulled out my water colors and I’ve done the first three. The first two I actually really loved. The third one omg so bad! Lol so I’m going to retry it , then do the rest of the flowers here. Thank you so much for the brush technique lessons, with acrylic I sketch out my art first then just paint it. Acrylic is a lot more forgiving than water color. But I had a blast following along with this lesson and can’t wait to do the rest!

Kristy...I have been a tole painter for 35 plus years. Five years ago, I started to learn watercoloring and it's hard for me to break out of painting almost photographic subjects which is okay for botanicals, but it's hard to break out of that style. I love your utubes and it makes me think that there's hope for me yet!!! I LOVE your style and approach. Thank you.
