Words are generally the other half of the comics recipe. In this video, we’ll explore my methods for adding text and balloons to your page in Krita, and how to use clipping groups to contain those elements to the panels.

Krita comes with all kinds of speech bubbles which could be found by enabling the Vector Libraries Docker. You could just drag and drop those into your painting.

I also work as comic illustrator. But krita text tool really stressed me out. Is there anyway to edit the text directly in the canvas just like any other editing software? (I use gimp recently)

It seems like I have to make a new layer for every text box and bubble, and re format for each. It's driving me crazy. Is there a better way to deal with this or a better program? Also I want to import my pictures like clip art and reposition them on the page. Again I need a new layer for each, unless I'm missing something. Very grateful for any help!!!

Thanks. I found text in Krita very frustrating, as it reverts back to "default" formatting every time when I insert a new textbox. Is there a way to get Krita to "remember" my previous / last used text formatting and use it again / by default when I insert new text? Or at least some way to duplicate a text?

when it comes to lettering is BEST to hand draw the bubbles! or import from a vector program like inkscape

I typed up the dialogue for all the speech bubbles on one page and then moved one balloon. I can't seem to move the text without moving the rest of the text on the page

What if you are unhappy with the size of the text? I've also noticed that you're text has to be a sentence or two, otherwise it covers the entire panel. A whole paragraph is out of the question.

Changing the size of the text within the editing pop up only lets you go down to 9 pt, but! If you save and close the window, then while selecting your text box with the pointer tool, select the size editing tool (the icon below the paintbrush tool), then you can drag your text into any size. To fit things thinner, I think you have to manually hit Enter in the editing box and separate lines. You can also change character and line spacing within the editing box :)
