@@draconiquist I agree with this, other dogs, or some other animals like lions, eat their babies. Though, don't they only do that so the female could mate with them??

It’s by no means unusual especially if it’s mom’s first litter. I think the humans could intervene a little more to help ease the tension so that the female sees that her puppies are safe with dad around. Just like any new mom, you can certainly get through it all by yourself, but a helping hand every now and then is a good thing. Especially with the puppies being as old as they are. Granted, this is just my 2 cents that no one asked for but I give it anyway!😊

No I agree I think just a little more slight intervention not bc of the behavior but to ease the stress in the environment for everyone but other than that everything seemed fine

This is maternal aggression & it's hormone related. After the pups are weened it should go away; if not, spay her.

Huskies really do have a whole different set of behaviors than other dogs do. Beautiful dogs. Not aloof, more like us I think than any other breed I've ever been around.

just protective of her pups, that's why they fight each other. doesn't want the father to be around them, keep them apart from the pups, and they'll get along just fine.

Mother is not only overprotective, she is jealous seeing her pups going for dad's affection/attention that's why she doesn't like it and fears her pups go for their dad over her. Dad is very proud of his pups too and it's rare to see how he loves them.

It's called "dam rage" and is a normal to a combination of instinct and hormones. It also didn't help that the mother dog was so young when she gave birth or the father dog for that matter. There is a reason why most breeders wait until a female has her second heat cycle or later to breed her. Neither of these dogs were ready to be reproducing. It's not just humans who need to have a certain level of maturity to be good parents.

Mother is trying to protect and care for her pups but is getting distracted by the father who wants to play so she feels the need to attack to protect the pups at least that's what i've read.
