Kroger is the worst employer with pay. I started at $7.00 ten years later $11.00 I had to work 18 months for health insurance had to work 20 hours a week to keep it and sometimes they wouldn’t schedule you. I wanted full time but never got it. My retirement check is $115.00 month.

Should’ve gone into lower prices, but you know that’s if they actually cared about the customer/employees. There’s a case for self checkouts improving the experience for the whole store. Yet somehow they only benefit the people sitting in shiny towers and wearing ties.

Kroger's DIGUSTING price gouging has gone over the rails within the last couple of years. They took full advantage of the aftermath from the pandemic by using it as an excuse for rising costs. Now they are taking full advantage of inflation and doing the same. I am surprised there isn't a massive boycott against Kroger yet.

I currently work for Kroger as a Courtesy Clerk, and I have always had a suspicion that they would lie to us. We were told of a raise of 16/hr - 20/hr. I grew up shopping at Kroger, I bust my ass off to ensure every adult and child has a cart, and to sweep the store twice, and with only one 30 minute break. I understand that Kroger started from a mom/pop shop in Ohio to becoming warehouses in much of the nation, but we employees aren't machines nor slaves that can go with little water. I'd say a raise and one 1 hr break can't hurt.

Kroger/Ralph’s employee wage underpayment policies must be happening in every state - even though food prices are going up. Kroger upper management is probably wishing that they could outsource grocery jobs to China and other countries like Apple, Nike, ATT, and other companies. They have found that a employee-less Amazon store can not make a profit. Previous generations used to be able to buy a house with a union salary.

You do realize that a $5 per hour raise will result in steep price increases. In 2021, Kroger earned 1.2 cents in profit for every dollar of sales. That is an extremely tight profit that doesn't allow for steep wage hikes with steep price increases to match.

Kroger is heavily into Republican politics. They have increased many prices 15-20% while inflation is around 8%. With mid-term elections coming up their CEO goes on TV to say how much they are trying to help but in reality they want you to feel the pain and vote Democrat. Kroger knows this is not sustainable competitively so prices with go back down after the election. In the meantime the money made by gouging the public will be used to offset minor wage concessions and influence the voting public for the Republicans. Customers are pre-paying these labor contracts while the company publishes false salary data to inflame public opinion against Unions. Yet Kroger will always negotiate for a partial minimum of this that they hold in escrow already collected for wage concessions. This is why wages are never fully adjusted for inflation and after decades have eroded purchasing power.

Everyone complains about not getting "livable wages" in these jobs. These jobs (like fast food) are not intended to support a family unless you go into management. However they need to go up with wages ( reasonable level) and treat the employees with respect. That being said, Kroger lying and manipulating their people is wrong on all levels. I hear they paid out bonuses last year and now they are taking them back. Kroger is pretty much off my shopping list.
