When they talk about shattering all expectations, Krohnen is one of them. Krohnen / K9999 forever thought lost to the franchise due to fear of legal reprisal, now changed up his look, moved around a few questionable moves, and is now a fully legally distinct character from Tetsuo of Akira fame, so lawyers back off! I don't think I have ever seen a character removed/blacklisted from a stories canon, then 20 years later re-introduced!

@@rooflemonger One, I’m pretty sure SNK did not kill off Foxy, at least not after XI. This may be a stretch, but there’s an interaction with Kula and Angel in KOF XIV that say “did someone else already take down Foxy?”, likely saying that Angel wasn’t just for Fan service and SNK was planning K9999’s comeback and didn’t put him in All-Stars for either time constraints or no risking copyright without full permission. I’m sure Foxy is still alive. And two, SNK secretly made a hint to K9999’s comeback when they said they would bring songs from the KOF series. How would people respond to the appearance or absence of “Rulers of the Dark” 2001 and “Napoleon Trance” 2002 without him?

Funny fact: Kusanagi (vanilla 2002) have a special intro against K9999, a reference, because Kusanagi's VA also dubs Kaneda himself.

I’ve kinda come around on Krohnen’s design. He looks like SNK just put a wig and sunglasses on K9999 as if to say ”Look, this is our brand new original character! He’s totally unrelated to any other character that we could potentially get sued over, and any likeness to prior characters is 100% accidental”.

Krohnen still has a good shoutout to Tetsuo in his attire. He’s got on a biker outfit, Akira has biker gangs and tetsuo was in one. Sneaky SNK lol

Remember if you like the character breakdowns in terms of their story(as well as the trailer breakdowns) check the playlist at the end as I have gone over pretty much everyone* in a similar fashion to this video! Time to catch up on the story before KoF XV launches! Also new Beta test is later this week so check that out as well *Sorry K', maybe your trailer shouldn't have launched against melty blood launch, I was too busy!

@@rooflemonger i actually remember that cause i went hard in on melty at launch but as a long-time noncompetetive player of KOF i was hoping for a K' breakdown from you as ive always loved playing as him AND he was announced early in the marketing but didnt get the gameplay trailer until months after, but hell, even i was preoccupied with Melty at the time

I prefer Krohnen's design over K9999's, not I think it's cooler, I think K9999 just feels like Tetsuo just randomly shows in a KOF game, but Krohnen feels like a KOF character that homages to Tesuo (I hope I'm not the only one). Looking forward to play with him.

They didn't Kill Foxy, just injuried her real bad, Foxy reapears in Kof XIII along with Diana, in some Kula moves, in the history and some win poses

They killed foxy. Foxy reappears in the story when K9999 was written out of the story. How they deal with it from here is up to them though.

5:51-5:55 Well the animosity between Kula and Angel still exists somewhat. They have their own Fateful Battle theme in XIV (A remix of Ice Place from 00'). It still gets me that SNK brought this character back. And he's voiced by KENN so the Yu-Gi-Oh & Black Clover fan is gonna have a field day with this guy.

10:18 Nameless DOES have a story though. He's the 9999th clone of K' (hence why the white part in his hair). The short version is that his lover Isolde died while being experimented on by NESTS, and the glove he wears basically has her "energy/soul" in it (that's where the blue girl from his climax is all about). Instead of betraying NESTS, he stayed loyal to them hoping he could find a way to revive Isolde eventually.

I like what they did to bring back K9999 but I especially like that they named him "Krohnen" as an obvious reference to David Cronenberg, the master of body horror. SNK is doing good work.

Definitely K9999, a mature version of him with his powers more under control. Many complain about SNK now is forgottening Nameless, but sincerly he was not even canon, was K9999 the one who has history in the main game. But there is still posibility to introduce Nameless in the future he have a total different background and origin and on the contrary of Krohnen, Angel, Kula, K', Maxima and all that NEST traitors, Nameless is still faithful to NEST, he could be a persecutor to take down all NEST traitors in a future KOF.

I really like his name, because on one hand K-roh-nen is phonetically very reminiscent of K-four-nine, but also it's a clear reference to Krohnenberg which fits with his body shifting super move.

I'm really intrigued on how his lore with Angel will be, does he remember her? Is he the "friend" She mentioned? Did she knew this all along? And more important, with his return, is Angel still be "The Angel of Justice" and fight Krohnen or return to be evil?

If they are on the same team I feel whatever progress made with team Mexico is gonna go right into the dumpster and its back to big time trouble again. KoF 2001 basically made them out to be bonnie and clyde.

@@GlaZim Five months into the future and I can tell you that they more or less got a happy ending in XV. Turns out they just flat-out let Kula go (and back to Foxy and Diana, the former of which they maimed as you saw in the video) because apparently even _they_ found her annoying. Lmaooo But yeah, also because Krohnen's been on the run for enough of a while that the paint on his glove is chipping away as opposed to K' and Kula, whose gloves are pristine in comparison. Oh, and Ángel probably provided for Krohnen by way of being in the Mexico team. Likely for the tournament money or just to get some basic amenities for each other while Krohnen is on the DL.

So much more could he done and just made like nothing changed on Angel during KOF XIV (She became a better person) and then throw everything to the trash for fanservice.

Why do people believe the myth that SNK didn't use K49 because of legal reasons? That was not the case, even though it seems like a likely conclusion. SNK just simply hated the character's design and how unoriginal he was. Simple as that.

His backstory is just k's backstory amped to 11 so its not all that unique, my biggest problem with nameless is his lack of personality.

@@neonthehedgehog12 his story has similarities to K' and that's a given since nameless is also a kusanagi clone. Other than that their stories are vastly Different. Nameless is in the moral dilemma of being faithful to nest only to bring Isolde back to life. Whereas k' made the easy decision to betray nest with little to no repercussions besides more killer clones being commissioned to stop him. In terms of Personality, he's reserved and gets in with his task at hand because the only person he ever loved or even knew was abruptly taken from him.

@@dr.hasdan I know his story, it's just that it's too similar to K's with tweaks, Him and K are both clones, both of them had clones that died from nest messing around (only Nameless had MORE), him and K' both can't control their flame powers without gloves, him and K' both worked for nest at some point, both him and K had loved ones(K's sister and not a "lover" in this case) that died because of nest, both dislike Kyo etc etc. Sure he has a different "personality" and a moral dilemma, but he's just built as a more tragic version of K' to feel more sympathetic and it feels stale to me considering we have K' already. And i doubt Nameless would stay with nest so he wouldn't even be different in that aspect for much longer if they stuck with him instead.

Was it ever actually confirmed K9999 was removed for legal concerns? I don't recall seeing anything definite other than SNK hated him. I'm feeling pretty confident the last team will be Krohnen, Angel and Sylvie.

Its the only possible explanation. If you don't like a character that's one thing, but you don't blank out all mention, patch them out of an existing game, scrub them from the story, and just pretend they never existed unless something bigger is happening.

Iirc K9999/Krohnen and Angel betrayed Kula and Foxy as a declaration of them rebelling against NESTS. Kula and Foxy were loyal to NESTS until Kula met Igniz and she realized he just sees all his projects as worthless pawns to discard when he feels like. Then K9999 and Angel ride off to escape NESTS while Kula helps the good guys beat Igniz.

I recently read the KOF XIV manga and perhaps Maxima could be more realistically in Krohnen's teams. My guess, just some NESTS shenanigans of remote control as they did with Kula in the manga.

I cannot think that maxima will complete the k' team. It would be very anti climatic. These last slots must have been left for last for good reason. Theres no massive maxima fans so cant see SNK saving his reveal for the veeery last stretch. So I think we might be in for more suprises with the last slots

Apparently three of the four dlc teams has been leaked. This may or may not be true so take it with a grain of salt. So the supposed teams are: Team 1: Haohmaru, Nakoruru, Darli Daggar. Team 2: Rock Howard, B.Jenet, Gato. Team 3: Geese Howard, Billy Kane, Ryuji Yamazaki. And Rugal is in that solo slot supposedly.

Foxy got no real room to return as a character, there's only 3 slots left. Whip is 100% on the K' team so its either maxima or kula for him.

The companies fear them being datamined immediately, which they absolutely will when it happens. Thats why no PC betas. The datamines will happen on launch day, they just trying to prolong to a date as far away as they can

The only negative thing about Krohnen's reveal in MY eyes is that while he was revealed late in the tournament, pretty much everyone else would feel... Pale in comparison. I mean when you got someone that SNK tried to act like didn't exist for god-knows-how long, what else is there that would fit the tagline of "Shatter All Expectations"? Regardless, I am still looking up to the eventual last three characters. Never had I been so impatient to wait for Valentine's Day.

There was never any fear of lawsuits. K9999 got the blessing from the creator of Akira. SNK just didn't like him, like a lot of one-and-dones from NESTS saga

I fully believe that kim is going to be the last character (after Elisabeth and Kula) and he's gonna be paired with Krohnen and Ángel since Kim likes to rehabilitate villains anyway, I know he's training with Gang-Il but that's the best pair I could think with them

All the NESTS clone/clone adjacent people have the gloves to help control their power. Without it when trying to use the Kyo flame they would just light themselves on fire. Kula is ice based but the same principle holds.

Krohnen is better than K9999 in terms of design he feels more original but still has a sneaky Akira reference here and there gameplay wise he looks a bit similar to Nameless and overall can't wait for the beta.

rip-offs are not that obvious, there are enough references to make it an obvious homage, at least on SNK's side. If they got into legal trouble for it it's because of assholes not being able to take a compliment. In any case, I love the new look, Tetsuo was a little bitch

Foxy is alive, she's not dead. Why you always putting out wrong info? First it was Those From The Past worshiping/working for Orochi (false, they were trying to steal Orochi's powers for their own god) and now Foxy being dead when she's alive. And no, she's not alive because K9999 was removed from the timeline, he wasn't removed from the timeline until KOF 2002 UM which was in 2009. She survived 2001 even before that.
