I love how her first reaction to a locked door is to just give up entirely as though the game devs gave no other option out of the situation. No desire for self preservation or attempt to reason out any other means of escape. Just gave up and stood there.

No weapons, no items, no abilities to use, they just leave you in your most vulnerable state, that's how you can really feel the fear and witness true horror. By far one of the best parts in the entire game.

On the other hand, I feel like it's only so effective because it's such a short part of a much bigger game. With other horror games that are just this the tension is lost very quickly for me, but going from being empowered to having that power taken away is a different experience. Not even getting to how dying in those games enough removes all tension as you learn there are no real consequences over time loss, making it go from scary to potentially tedious.

One thing that partly makes this whole section pure genius - playing like Kronii did, she barely got any glimpses of the baby monster, she just ran like hell and didn't get caught even though it was her first time playing. Having to wait for the elevator at the end, the monster is programmed to come up just as the door closes, no matter how close or far it is So even if you totally avoid it the whole time like Kronii did, you get one final look face-to-face with the horror chasing you before you escape.
