most likely water. When you deplete your glycogen reserves in your muscles - for example when you reduce carb intake or are very physically active - you can easily lose 2kg in one day. Carbs stored in your body are water retaining - once you use those carbs, the water gets flushed right out.

People don't realize that changing your diet (for weight loss) for 99% of people is better done as slightly lowering your portion sizes pretty much week to week (there is ofc play to it, but week to week is a decent benchmark) Crash diets (stereotypical drastic diet changes that drop a shit ton of calories) are fucking hard lol, just leave it for people in sports and those who have a lot more experience with diet manipulation Diet changes take time and depend so much on gradual habit forming, so stick to smaller and gradual changes like changing ingredients or slightly decreasing meal sizes The goal is to have those changes be your new norm

Fewer calories, more walking - that 10,000 steps a day target really is useful. Strength and cardio is super important for your heart health and strength but I got from a borderline obese BMI to the lower quartile of the green zone within 9 months literally by just consuming on average 500 less calories a day and walking on the lunch break which gave me an approx 1000 calorie defecit. If you're eating more in a week, walk more or even better, run or go to the gym more frequently, it starts to become a natural next step in the journey rather than something you feel you have to do all at once. That's how I got started, and It's a very easy place to start, I believe not nearly enough is said about literally just walking, it's so good for you lol

@@Micheldied And that is mostly about dehydrating your body to lose as much water as possible, rather than actual fat loss. Really the diets are about people who are doing it for bulk/cut cycles, but mostly aesthetics, and in the case of the latter, the fewer people obsessed about doing that, the better. If you're doing that it needs to be part of a regimen and coming from a place of personal curiosity rather than body image issues.

This is true, ramping down on bad calories and ramping up on more movement is the most effective. Make positive changes slowly is easier to become a habit than just cold turkey/ white knuckle strategies. In my experience, it is ALWAYS your family that fucks you over when you are trying to diet. Nobody ever wants to diet with you, and they're constantly buying delicious food and offering it to you for one reason or another. I had gained about 20 pounds I wanted to shed fast and started eating nothing but Salad to get it down quick, and on day 4 my wife got me an eggnormous breakfast burrito, then on the same day my sister came over to visit with 2 bags of Tyson's boneless hotwings saying she had been feeling sick lately and didn't want them anymore so she gave them to me. And i'm just like.... wtf... Why... My laziness helps diet out a lot because I hate cooking and I hate going to the grocery store, so if I never buy "bad" food in the first place, I never eat it cause i'd rather be hungry than get in the car and go get it. But when people hand it directly to me like Frodo handing the Ring to Gandalf and Galadriel and every fucking body else he comes across in his journey, it's so hard to refuse.

The first 2 kg are easy, because they're mostly water. Eating less salt means that your body retains less water. And reducing carbs leads to muscles storing less glycogen, which is an energy storage that's also like 80% water. So if you start on a diet, those 2 kg can disappear within a few days, but will return just as quickly if you return to your previous eating. It's not actual fat loss yet.

Yeaaaahhh.... I've lost over 26kg now since this time last year (plateaued over Christmas / new years from changing jobs) but the biggest help is actually logging your foods in an app which shows you what you're eating. Though here are a few of the major points: 1) avoid saturated fats (processed meats, fried foods) - literally causes so much shit to break in your body... evidence even shows it to cause diabetes like sugar does. 2) avoid anything with man-made / artificial sweeteners in it (asclefame k, aspartame and especially sucralose) 3) If you want sweet things, eat FIBRE and PROTEIN FIRST! Or at least one of these... they will reduce the impact of sugar spikes 4) go for a 15 minute walk after something sugary - you'll burn it off instead of letting it go into fat storage 5) walk more - the more you move, the more you're burning and insulin response and resistence is linked to walking. No need for running or anything crazy... just be in Level 2 heart rate. 6) Supplement your diet with starchy carbs (potatoes or rice) and avoid grains (wheat & oats, including pasta) If you feel you're getting tired easily, eat a little more carb. If you feel overfull and still not losing weight, cut down on the carbs. It's as simple as that. But the main point it all boils down to - just stop eating literal shit. Saturated fats, artificial sweeteners, or anything else with high sugars is just a no-go... I enjoy a lot of good foods but I don't dare touch a drop of fizzy drink (except the occasional cider) or have any take-aways. They're shit for you but they're also easy to get hooked on. Once you're off them though, you'll be so much happier for it. Ganbare, everyone! 💪
@realization8919
@realization8919 19 күн бұрын
Just saying: 1. Don't avoid saturated fats, avoid TRANS fats and LIMIT saturated fats. Saturated fats (IN MODERATION) are fine. 2. There's no conclusion drawn about artificial sweeteners causing poor health yet, even though there is some evidence against it. They DO contain less calories than sugar and DO NOT cause cancer. So far there hasn't been enough convincing evidence that they have any significant drawbacks, but water is probably still better, since nobody knows for sure what's going on with artificial sweeteners. They don't directly cause weight gain though. 3. The main thing to eat fiber and protein for is how filling they are compared to the amount of calories they hold. Sugar spikes are dangerous if they happen too often and chronically, but they really aren't the biggest deal. Still, do eat lots of protein and fiber. If you have concerns over blood sugar, eat them close to when you eat your carbs, doesn't have to be before. 4. I'm not sure why you'd burn off carbs with 15 minutes of walking. 15 minutes of walking barely accounts for 60 calories - which is almost nothing. But if it doesn't bother you, then do it, if it isn't convenient, don't bother. In the end, calories in and calories out determine weight loss, and 15 minutes of walking after eating isn't burning much. Walking is still very good, but you don't have to walk at a specific time or anything. 5. It's really important to do formal cardio, your heart gets stronger with formal cardio. 6. I'm not sure why you should avoid grains and supplement with starchy carbs, both are fine. Most of the things you mentioned either barely help or may be counterproductive. Overall, eating lots of protein and fiber is very helpful, weight training (bodybuilding style is best) is mandatory for long term health and fat loss, cardio is mandatory for heart health and it also helps burn some calories (but don't overdo cardio). Artificial sweeteners are much much better than normal sugar for fat loss, but water is still safer and better. Do not avoid saturated fats entirely (but do get them from mostly unprocessed food sources like steak and LIMIT YOUR CONSUMPTION), polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats are mostly healthy, so do try and get some of each in your diet, but trans fats should be avoided entirely. Sleep as well as possible, that's important too. Eat less processed foods, because those are high in calories and make you want to eat more. Overall, it's all about the amount of calories you consume V.S the amount you burn off. There's a lot more stuff to mention, but this is the general overview. I completely agree: don't eat ANY junk during your diet if you have trouble losing weight, that stuff is really good tasting and really calorically dense. If you have no trouble losing weight, just limit the junk to 30% of your diet at most. PS: check out Dr. Mike Israetel and Jeff Nippard on youtube, they are probably the most reputable fitness related youtubers around. Israetel isn't perfect, but still very helpful. Search up the name, then "losing weight" or "dieting", there should be a couple videos for each.

The fact is that they are 'zero carbs' because they have not actually undergone a calorific test (which is another load of utter bulls* - look up how that's calculated! Walking (yes, even for just 15 minutes after eating) has been shown to reduce sugar spikes and even increase insulin sensitivity, reducing the risk of Type 2 diabetes. Even a moderate intake of Saturated Fats has been linked to the cause of Type 2 diabetes. Grains, such as wheat undergoes a really bad transformation when grounded into fine flour, which is then used for bread or pasta. It has also shown to cause inflammation. The same with oats, which are also high in heavy metals which occur naturally from their growth as a natural defence from wildlife. And of course, even meats can cause inflammation, but new research shows that eating avocado with protein meats stops the inflammation from occurring, as well as other health benefits. So I guess we're always learning something! 😆 Thomas Delauer is one that I follow for the science facts on diet, who (along with Dr Tim Spector) will tell you that it's not all about calories in/out. That's a very rough guide at best, and it's far from that simple. It's always about the macros, quantities, when and in what order we eat. That means that there is a lot for people to consider at any given time and need to tailor their dietary habits to suit their circumstances. For me, my focus is on the sugars because I ballooned in weight over the pandemic (thanks also to sleep apnoea it seems) and went diabetic from all the 'zero calorie' fizzy drinks, pizza's and subs etc I was having. Everyone's different and has their own goals in mind, so... I guess it's just take what works for you and what you want to be mindful of ☺

I went from overweight to acceptable bmi in just a year and have stayed in that range for a few years now! Also might be because I haven't really been eating properly in those few years (because coming back home late from school SUCKS) 🙃

Important dieting note: drink tons of water. When you don't hydrate, you start to retain water and that adds bloat. Also, avoid keeping any high-cal, low value snacks around, and go with things that need some prep time before you can eat them. When your options are "fruit or veggies now" versus "I actually have to do some cooking (even if it's not much)", it's a lot easier to not absentmindedly tear through an entire bag of Fritos or something (I have no self control with those things). That said, if you want to eat/drink more, really step up the cardio. I log 60-90 minutes of cardio (and a bunch of other stuff, but the cardio isn't optional), daily, and it's not because I like doing it - it's because I like to drink and have hobbies that are much harder if you're out of shape. This is what worked for me, and I dropped 60lbs after college and haven't gained it back, but YMMV.

Dieting is really hard especially when you start doing it but over time you’ll get used to it but it’s still a challenge to do It’s okay to eat stuff just make sure to take it easy. I tried dieting and exercising after the pandemic and now losing 50 kg is a big achievement to me. But it’s still a struggle to not eat a lot but at least I stopped drinking soda and eating instant noodles Also I can’t eat alot like I used to because my stomach couldn’t handle it Also also I want to be fit like Emiru

Diets are not for the weak willed. I lost 4X kg in 6 months by simply controlling my calories, and going for a 5km walk every day. Note that my intake was like 1300~1500 calories, less than minimum, which only made things take longer because I was in starvation mode. When I actually did my research and forced myself to eat more (around 1600 calories or so) , I started to lose weight like I should. Nowadays I weight 66kg or so, and eat 2250 calories per day to maintain my weight (and stopped going for walks)... now I actually struggle to stop losing weight. orz

I lose my weight from 100kg to 80 in like 1 year, but i never feel super hungry and so eager for food. Starving is the worst way to lose weight. It will weakened your body and mind for doing anything. The correct way to lose weight is to eat healthy, low calorie food only and keep yourself full and have enough energy for exercise. Also, weight loss by starving will just come back so fast when your mind broke and start eating normally. I really hope she noticed that and stop starving herself like this.😢
