This video shows the installation of the Krontec quick release steering wheel adapter. Last year we used the SPA adapter but had a failure with pins being misaligned and failed. So, this is the new *better? adapter we use.

Been contemplating this myself as well - getting frustrated with the sloppy Spa option. One thing that jumped out at me, and you may be aware, but to achieve the Autosport connector's rated sealing from dust and water, you need to populate pins in all the cavities along with sealing plugs. No wire needed, but the combination of the contact and plug forms the seal.

Yes good point on seal, I ordered some plastic plugs for that reason . Good you mentioned this for others to be aware. I am hopeful this will be a solution that passes the test of time. Thanks

I have a question unrelated to the Krontec quick release. The flooring tiles you have in the garage, do you think it’ll withstand a weight of a Zamboni? I work at a nhl facility and I’m considering getting these tiles to protect the new studded tires we’re about to install from getting ruined by the concrete floor.

Ah got it, Zamboni from what I see is around 10k lbs or so. I use race deck for my flooring and have now for many years in various garages. While I have never had a Zamboni on it, race deck says their floors can handle 80,000 lbs. Check out their web site to be sure, but it should work with no issues. I used to have a larger 4x4 truck on one of my floors and never had any issue. I like the free flow race deck tiles myself as they allow water for example to run off and not puddle up. As someone who has never run a wired hub before, do you just leave enough wire excess on the shaft side for it to move with the motion of steering? I have a 1.5 turns lock to lock so I would assume if I make it where the wires exit the shaft at TDC I would only need a couple inches of excess harness?

yes you are correct, on my install I keep approximately 2 turns of wire wrapped around the outside shaft to allow for steering lock to lock with no binding. You can do more than that if you need. I do run the wires inside the shaft and have a hole drilled past my bearings for the wiring to exit, TDC or close to that. You have the idea for sure, let me know if you have any other questions.
