I remember this but it is difficult to keep up with the special needs of New Mexico law enforcement. There is nothing about any profession you choose that gives you instant credibility, values or morals and that goes for officers, doctors, teachers, clergy, or mental health professionals... A badge does not make you a decent person, no way, no how. Just waiting for the day when the system starts stripping officers of their credentials and certs

It strikes me that selection, training and supervision of police officers across the entire US is in need of a major review and drastic overhaul. Having 18,000 separate police forces is part of the problem.

It’s unclear whether this trooper is still with the department or if he is on administrative leave or desk duty. This is not an unusual situation with police officers, the reports and studies that I’ve seen say that domestic abuse is around 40% with police officers and only 10% in the population of this country.

They use “fear” for every situation while refusing to communicate. Ordering people at gun point without even getting emergency, it is a dog but refusing basic exchange of pertinent information. A dog at any age is a part of your family. An officer at the other side of the spectrum would have given them a police escort to the vet, not pull his weapon. If a law suit comes out of this, the officer will have to pay out of his own pocket, New Mexico is 1 of a few states that don't give their officers qualified immunity.

There needs to be a nationwide database and if you are fired from a police department/sherrifs department for misconduct, you are put on it and FOREVER barred from law enforcement again.

That cop was and has always been aggressive. He's possessive and scary.

It used to be shocking to me when they behaved like this with their bodycams on. Then I came to understand that they didn’t care that they were wearing cameras, because no one in the department ever made them think what they were doing was wrong.
