The truth behind this is a group employees from the city's water sanitation had a contamination but the city wanted to hide it use the bad water anyway. So the employees took the problem in to their own hands and flushed the city's waterlines using the hydrants.

You guys are pretty dense huh, as jayrod said some dude said that they lived in a desert. Deserts don’t get much rain. You can’t compare it to Florida that’s just stupid, and even if they did live in Florida and wasn’t a huge waste the pressure drops a ton and can cause pipe breaks. I feel like I shouldn’t have to explain that.

I remeber when I was a kid back in Lynwood we had this. Only that it was my bro who opened it up. Nobody called the police or anything. All the neighbors came out and it was literally like a water park. All the kids in the block wearing shorts getting wet. Its such an amazing memory.

"It's not that easy to open up a fire hydrant." Since when? All you need is a hydrant wrench ($20), or if that is out of your price range a monkey wrench will get the job done, and a little bit of muscle.

The US has awesome hydrants by the way. Where I live it's just like a manhole, open it up, screw a "T" shaped pipe and fit two hoses and then crank the tap.

They are just a pipe connector under a metal lid, firefighters have a key to open them and they connect their trucks to the pipe

Opening a hydrant is pretty easy you just need a $20 wrench and a bit of muscle.. to put it in car terms, it's like twisting off a wheel's lug nut.
