As Chief Forecaster at KRTV I received a lot of requests for station tours from schools and classrooms. After a period of time at the station, it seemed that many small rural schools could not travel to Great Falls to see the station in action. The result was I prepared an 11 minute program that was mailed to more than a dozen outlying schools so their students could see how the news, weather and sports was presented. This was done in September of 1997 and the technology is more advanced today than it was at that time, but still the magic of the "Green Screen" for weather and the teleprompter remains the same today. Computers play a much bigger part of putting a newscast together at today's stations.
Sit back and you will see some familiar faces and the quick tour as the students did.
At the end you will see all those responsible at the time for putting the newscast together off and on camera as well.
Enjoy!
