I'm 70 years old and have five bikes. I've been riding since I was about 13 years old. I of course don't do stunt riding but I also don't wear boots (feels just too clunky). I wear armored sneakers, I can feel the foot controls better. I do wear armored riding jeans, an armored leather jacket. I wear an assortment of helmets (depending on weather, what I'm riding, how far I'm riding etc.) Hey you ride your ride the way you want not the way someone else is comfortable with. Just my opinion.

Interesting discussion and perspective. I would be the last person to ever tell a stunt rider what kind of gear they should use, because for me, if I was to ever be doing a wheelie or trying to precisely manipulate controls from a standing upright position, that means something has gone horribly wrong and I would want as much armor between me and the outside world as humanely possible!

Plenty of racers are well aware of the rear brake, and YamahaChamp school has a whole focus on teaching people rear brake because of the myth that sport motorcycles dont really need a rear brake. "No rear brake" for racing is an outdated method, now days motoamerica, motogp, Isle of Man TT and especially the king of the batters they all have a very highly skill developed use of the rear brake. Yamaha champshool's ChampU has a whole teaching segment on just the rear brake. Kyle Wyman is a teacher/parisipation assistant at ChampSchool, the guy who rides SE's Road Glide for king of the baggers. He's a super accomplished superbike racer.

Great video. Some people just need something to bitch about. If you ain’t doing it like them, you’re wrong, as they’re the experts of everything. Most people who ride are well aware of the risks of how they ride. I don’t tell other people how to ride their shit, they’re grown. They can make their own decisions.

After 40 years as a rider (34 of those in AZ), I ride in shorts and running shoes. Still wear a helmet and gloves when riding, though.

That was awesome! Having ridden motocross since childhood then track day and adv riding as an adult (but never serious stunt riding) I was instinctually on the other side of this. You made absolute since and completely changed my mind. Also, anyone with no helmet or a turtle shell has no right to say anything about safety to someone in a good fullface.
