The great archmage Teclis seeks to expand the power and influence of the Lumineth Realmlords and has entrusted Lyrior Uthralle to lead a campaign across the realms. Accompanied by the Light of Eltharion, the Elven heroes lead a shining host from the great nation of Alumnia, ready to take on any foes that dare face them. Not all enemies want an honest confrontation however, and the devious Kruleboyz prepare to spring their trap and surround the trespassers. Looking to strike from hiding and use every trick at their disposal, we will soon learn if the mists and shadows will be enough to obscure the light of the Elves.

I've said it before but I'll say it again. This is the best way to do battle reports. Concise sequences with all salient points covered, great music, quality table, enthusiastic and knowledgeable players.

@@SeasonofWar I dropped Lifeswarm and the 5 Dawnriders from my Da Boyz build, and picked up Lord-Regent for a GT in Albany, NY in 3 weeks. I'll let you know how it does.

This is my first time seeing your channel. First, that Lumineth army, wow. I didn't think they could look so good. Really good job to the painter. Second, I wasn't sure at first when I saw the top down view pf the battle, but you focused in on the units that were active, and their targets as needed and the narrator lady was very clear and concise. Very nicely done. I subscribed. Thank you.

Those kruleboyz dish out an absolutely obscene amount of damage! That lumineth army was much more fun to see over the standard sentinals spam, so thank you for that, gutted the blade lords didn't even make it on, they aren't the best but I've found they are reliable to do damage. Great idea for that retreat to snatch that objective. Really fun game to watch, thank you and I hope you all have a good new year's.

Great batrep guys. Always impressed with the visual precision you do these reports. Couple questions, did you use the new FAQ rules/points? 2nd, given the alpha potential (not that it panned out as great) of the lumineth, would the krule boyz have rather gone for the 1st turn priority if they did it over again? Wasn’t sure the reason they let lumineth go 1st. Curious behind that tactile choice.

Doing it over again I think I would likely do the same thing, against this lumineth list I wasn't too worried about the alpha. Was able to move block with the idol and knew it would weather a lot of damage. With kruleboyz restricted range, going 1st a lot of the time isn't a very good option and then getting doubled turned would be rough. Unfortunately this was right before the faq came out. But I don't believe much was affected, only thing would be my amulet being a 6+ but he didn't really get hit anyway

Aww yes, better Dawnriders would be sooooo nice. I’ve played them again and again and while they get where they need to be, they almost never then do there what they need to do. So most of the times they are just very fast move blocker or grabbing empty objectives, because you can’t trust them with killing anything. Mostly cav army with Dawnriders and Lord Regent and Windchargers would be epic.

I'd love to see what kind of, and what you could do with, a castigators themed list I never see them in batreps but they're one of my favourite SCE units 😅

Very excited to see this battle, especially with the lumineth list Jordan is playing (I personally prefer the more off-meta lists). Great match guys very entertaining and those kruleboyz are definitely a tough nut to crack.. Would love to see an all cavalry army, dawnriders, windchargers with a couple of regents (and maybe a fox and some mages)..

A super-close game, as always. It often seems like the matchups are really competitive, which makes them enjoyable to watch. In the end, it came down to some clever maneuvering by both generals to eke out a win. Cheers!

It's interesting that you say it's counter intuitive with alumnia, and I completely agree. I find that is why I don't enjoy playing the army. I feel like alumnia is made for the 3rd wave Tyrion.

Great game! Question: Now that Eltharion dropped to 220p from 250. Would you still run this list at 1970 or would you drop the spells/something else for an extra unit Dawnriders for example?

I think you could drop the endless spells for another unit. If you really want to optimize you could drop the dawnriders or bladelords too so you could sub in 20 Sentinels. Eltharion is cool and good - but the prevalence of mortal wounds in the game is tough for him, and combined with 6" move he's rather limited. I hoped to overcome that in Alumnia but as we saw, it also means you can't re-roll his charge if he fails which is a big downside :(

Ive got an Alumnia army and play similar lists as I’m not a big Teclis or sentinel player. You can’t really compare 2 ballistas to 20 or 30 sentinels the points difference is massive. That said happy to see the ballistas holding their own against the bolt boys. I think in hindsight moving up the wardens too much too soon. If the wardens sat and held the middle and let the shooting take away the bolt boyz then a charge on the wardens and counter charges with dawnriders, and hero’s may have worked better.

How big are your objective markers? I am not understanding how control is taken when the units aren't on the actual marker?

Hey Parker, the objective markers are only 3", so we can measure an additional 3" from the marker to be on the objective.

My question is: Why do I see you not charging 1 wound units with them almost all the time? So sad to see how you continuesly misuse them. Next time please please please let them charge properly! They really are fast enough for you to choose...

Did you use your pregame move to break shining? since the warden unit still looks like it's in shining, I was surprise by the auto advance of 6. Alumnia feels like a trap, makes you want to rush like crazy, when LrL just don't like to be on the offensive part, more like in a counteroffensive style :D

seems like the plan against boltboyz is force them to move. if you hide and wait for them to move, does that reduce their threat range even more and kneecap them a bit?

if they move their shooting range gets reduced to 12"/ 15" if the army is a big yeller warclan. The big brain move is to stay outside of 24"/ 27" to make 'em move and not shoot, or to only move up to 20.1" Also they fold against any other shooting, are super immobile and as long as you have 30" shooters and stay at 27.1" you should never lose against them. Unless they bring a bridge and or have very favourable cover terrain.

@@cadaverific3774 for the boltbboyz they shoot 2 shots at short range, 1 at long (albeit with worse bs, but who cares when you're fishing for mortals). It's way more withstandable, but the unleash is insane

They risk breaking coherency - and do - but in the end they survive with >5 models, so are not subject to coherency anymore!

I broke shining company during the pregame movement. I generally just announce this to my opponents during the game for simplicity rather than take the models off the movement tray.

Can Lyrior move out of combat without retreating? If it’s a retreat move I don’t think speed of hysh will add to its retreat move. I could be wrong though, I know Lumineth have some out of the ordinary rules. Let me know if I’m wrong so I can learn, thanks!

Pretty sad state of game when LRL have to hold their punches to this extent VS a completely new battletome. Can we please acknowledge how much of an issue sentinels and bowsnakes are? GW please listen -.-

An interesting point, but I wasn't 'pulling my punches', but went for a more combat focused build to make use of Alumnia's strengths. I agree Sentinels are probably THE standout unit of our army, but I also think the ballista are underestimated, so I wanted to illustrate we don't always have to take 30+ Sentinels.

Amazing batrep, as usual. And really interesting Kruel list. Jordan, u're a champ to not taking sentinels in the list, but i fear that this list shows how badly LRL need sentinels to be able to "scalpel" through stuff. Muh elves are too fragile and not damaging enough to go into combat without a care in the world XD

Still scratching my head on why the light of eltherion used an atherquartz. Give something -1 bravery from the cathaller I guess? Doesn't get +1 to hit. Can't modify his save. Doesn't cast spells. But hey can say he heightened his reflexes.

Yeah I think they are going to ruin lumineth if they keep increasing the pts on sentinels, when you break shinning company with wardens you may as well just pick them up and remove them.
