¡Qué maravilla es poder ver estos videos! A Krupa y a los Dukes los conocí hace unos 60 años. Con suerte en mi país, Chile, uno lograba escuchar un LP. Pero, poder verlos es, realmente. una maravilla. Muchas, muchas gracias.

When they played in Chicago, Illinois at Bourbon Street Night Club at 936 North Rush Street around 1965, Dean Barrett was the drummer and he was good and funny. I worked at Bourbon Street as a cashier and listen to them foe about 2 years. I remember only Frank and Freddie playing. They also appeared one night at the 19th Hole in Lyons, Illinois. I am 79 now and don't remember anything else other than St. James Mortuary was my favorite.

4:49- They started measuring decibels after the band finished playing. 7:37- The peak volume reached was precisely at the moment when the band ends, when the drums give the final bang.

I just discovered I guess I am order than I thought. The drummer who played with the original Dukes of Dixieland was Barrett Deems. I saw a video from May, 1995 when he was 82 years old. It was the same great showmanship that I remembered when he play at Bourbon Street in Chicago, Illinois.

But without that exploitation we wouldn't be enjoying such jazz greats on the same stage more than a half century later. It provided a unique set of circumstances and quality of audio and video recording that was rare for lives performance back then, not to mention a wonderful archive.

Cool to see Woody Herman...I'm from Wisconsin too...!! BUT ABSOLUTELY LOVE seeing mean Gene fly on his snare drum with his famous singles....and yes he's amazing on his solid bass drum playing...a great right foot...and supreme stick definition on his ride cymbal...GO GENE GO...!!

While it’s great to see these guys going for it live, it’s a sad commentary that we’d do a show ostensibly based on music that came from the black culture in NOLA, yet somehow there are no representatives of that culture in the audience, let alone the bandstand.

The Assuntos aren't 'pizza' players. The packaging can be tiresome. When I first heard it, the term 'Dixieland' was used pejoratively by New Orleans musicians.
@dew2912
@dew2912 4 жыл бұрын
@@johncoffin9354 Wiki- Some consider Dixieland a derogatory term implying superficial hokum played without passion or deep understanding of the music and because "Dixie" is a reference to pre-Civil War Southern States. Many black musicians have traditionally rejected Dixieland as a style distinctive from traditional jazz, characterized by the staccatic playing in all-white groups such as The Original Dixieland Jazz Band in contrast to the slower, syncopated back-beat style of playing characterized by musicians like King Oliver or Kid Ory.

N'importe quoi !
