I know Baldurs Gate doesn’t get a lot of views but I have loved this playthrough so far. It’s one of those games that I don’t watch often because I want to play myself.

There's also barely anyone uploading a fun playthrough. I looked. It's just a bunch of guys doing a single player playthrough with a monotone voice, or people who had early access, and already know what every dialogue option leads to. Ludwig started a playthrough, but that one lasted like 3 episodes. The most entertaining is a playthrough with 2 or 3 people, who are going in (almost) blind and experiencing the game together.

I feel like ONE of the reasons it initially had bad viewership but now is much better is that people (like me) were waiting to play it for ourselves first. Now that ive gotten through the first 2 acts ive started to watch streamers play it now that i wont spoil myself or miss context by jumping in part way through.

Regarding the opening conversation, for someone like me with little experience in this type of game, the barrier to entry feels very high. In addition to trying to learn the basic mechanics, there are so many variables with the builds and decision making, that it's a lot to take in. It's easy to feel lost in what's going on

Yeah that's partially what I mean by unga bunga! I sometimes don't wanna learn. I like to just call it that but unga bunga can split into low iq or just a lot and don't feel like it which also was why I meant I also get that way

You don’t need to understand that game a lot, it’s an rpg so you can make whatever character you want and do want you want. There’s no wrong way to play Baldurs Gate.

6:01 It's worth opening the books before you sell them. You don't acc have to read them, but sometimes they can unlock new recipes, quests & dialogue options.

1:58:52 What's great about the Ogres is that you can promise them gold & get them to fight for you, then when they come to collect you just tell them you'll double it if they'll stay in your service. You can do that a couple of times & you'll be strong enuff to take them in a fight by the time they confront you.

39:45 Minor Illusion is a pretty good Cantrip. You can use it lure enemies so you can: 1) sneak by them 2) move them away from an objective they're guarding 3) lure them to an isolated area 4) group them up to set up for an AOE attack, etc.

Just a tip/heads up guidance has no combat benefit apart from shoving as it’s only ability checks. I recommend the bless as it’s the same as guidance but for attack rolls and damage I believe :)

Tay didn't have a bug, any time he feeds on someone they get that debuf and tay chose to keep letting him feed on her every night when she got the dialogue choice. It specifically mentions during the initial follow up dialogue that he will be quiet and gentle from now on so as not to disturb your rest meaning that there are no additional getting bit cut scenes and it just gives him the buff and you the debuff automatically that night if you tell him he can feed on you tonight.

You can also dispel the debuff with lesser restoration

I was definitely someone who had no idea what was going on when I joined your streams of this game mid-session, so I never really stayed. But starting from the beginning with these VODs, I think I understand the context now lol.

Yeah starting from the beginning helps a ton cause it starts off with a lot less! Little easier to learn for newer viewers to that content

0:00 I'm acc surprised how much I *love* BG3 tbh - I'm usually not a fan of games like this at all, i.e.: with turn based combat, an isometric view &/or detailed mechanics. 1:41:07 1:49:56 I love how different races & classes can unlock different dialogue/ story options. It just makes the game even more replayable.

14:12 2:32:54 You should group characters together & throw a health potion at the ground to heal them all. You could also just drop it on the ground & melee attack it to increase the splash radius.

38:01 Wizards definitely seem like a bit of a glass canon, but being able to learn spells from scrolls is useful asf. If you *do* acc keep the spells you learn when you temporarily reclass then it seems worth trying at least once imo, probably later in the game tho when you have plenty of scrolls & money to spend on learning them.

I haven't watched a multi-player run-through before. Interesting, altho I got spoiled seeing all the cut scenes with solo runs - lol. Nice to hear the story from two points of view though - it's so funny you both chose drow, tho' - lol. I'm learning I have to be patient while waiting for my own game to come - sigh. Meanwhile, I'm learning the workings of the game watching various BG3 streams - thank you for sharing!

I feel like from what I have been seeing I BG3 maybe isnt the best for viewership but those who watch it generally stick around for longer than those who pop into watch something like Cod or lethal company

Nope. I'm a BG3 diehard but the viewership of this game is always terrible, I'm quite disappointed with the community. They always show out day 1 or vid 1, but after that viewership falls off a cliff. So a lot of people pretend to want to watch but only watch one time and never come back. Even small channels that are only reaching a diehard audience, fans don't have the attention span to follow along for playthroughs. Even compared to games like spiderman, viewer retention is just terrible. It should have a cult following but it just doesn't. Part of it is the game is fairly slow paced with a lot of downtime, but some content creators make it entertaining af. And in those cases its the viewers fault for not having enough patience and/or discipline to follow an entire playthrough, even if you fall behind.

This is really well worded @@yeahr1ghty . The CTR is what KZfaq bases off pushing these vids and you're right, the CTR was cut in half from the first video to 10/10 and the rest will follow suit. I'm not surprised and it's for the reasons you stated as well as partially what I also said in the video. I'm still going to upload the playthrough, but yeah people unfortunately don't click or watch for long enough to get it pushed. A lot of people pretend they do. A prime example of this is the people confused and leaving dumb comments on all the stuff I literally explained at the VERY start of the video (only 1-2mins worth of stuff) how the playthrough would run/playout and filling in on crucial info, yet they didn't listen to any of it or skipped ahead.

I personally *love* BG3 & will watch as much as Kruz is willing to stream/ post lol. I especially love how detailed & expansive the game is - no two playthroughs are ever the same. I'm not interested in the parts where they level up & have to read through everything (I just can't focus on/ understand it), but I just skip thru that stuff & watch the rest. I love how much there is to do & explore in this game, it definitely deserved GOTY imo.

Part one was posted a few days ago, this is from a few weeks ago when she started her own solo play and Narrator jumped in. Since the other multiplayer group doesn't have a lining time of schedules she still wanted to play and get further in the story than where they were. So now she has a chance to romance people and see more areas than what they did in multiplayer because they weren't going to go everywhere, and she gets to get further ahead in the story. By the time everyone else gets together to do more sessions, she should have a pretty good idea of things to look for a head of the group. That being said because there are so many permutations in this game what she experiences here will inevitably be completely different than what the multiplayer group experiences so it makes it more fun. 👌

I think another reason viewership is kinda meh for this game is because its kinda hard to watch someone else play. I even find myself getting "frustrated" with how someone is interacting with the game and especially the companions (some people get really weird about some of them that is kinda either racey, misogynistic or homophobic). For example you guys were kinda going hard on my frog wife Lae'zel which is understandable but a slight bit irritating with how quick the trigger felt for offing her. Again i get it and its just a game but thats part of the reason i feel its a bit more difficult for me to watch people play this game
