Missouri Schools will soon become a safer place for students with seizures after a mother took her concerns to state lawmakers in Jefferson City.
Governor MIke Parson signed a new bill into law requiring school nurses and staff to create and follow personalized response plans when a student goes into convulsions.
'Will's Law,' named after four-year-old Will Capps, will raise awareness and implement instructions for schools to better protect students with seizures.
5 On Your Side recently met Will and his mom Kayci Capps at his daycare in Herculaneum and quickly learned how their family's fight with Dravet Syndrome - a rare, aggressive, often deadly form of epilepsy - upended their lives and altered their expectations.

Is her insurance paying for this or are we spending 200,000$/year to send a kid who is going to die to public school

First, the $ goes before the number you ignorant swine. Second, anyone at any time child or adult could die at any moment. He is not the only child to suffer from epilepsy. This is a fantastic law and will make staff better equipped to save a child’s life. I don’t care who pays for it because it is a much needed law. Heaven forbid you or your loved ones ever have a seizure or need someone to help in a time when most people freak out. Please reevaluate your life and sense of entitlement when it comes to being the judge of others life saving endeavors.

You bviously have no compassion for others. What a horrible thing to say. Just because he has a tough life and may not live as long, doesn't mean he has no value. If you were in these parents position, you'd want this done.

Also Will deserves to have a life with friends and as much normalcy as possible. He may not be learning alot of academics, but he's learning. He life matters.
