I have to know what camera tool and visual mods your using????? This makes ksp look absolutely stunning mine looks like trash compared to this my God

@@shanemeyer9224 RSSVE for the main planet/cloud/atmosphere visuals, TUFX for some post processing, Katniss Cape Canaveral + Tundra launchpads for the space center, and finally a little bit of glow/light ray filters in editing. (like during Titan descent)

The rotation of the RSS earth gave the same amount of free delta v so it’s ok (joke)?

Thank you! I hope to get there, some day. You're pretty much the main spark that set me on this path of making these! I definitely don't plan to stop here - going to do some more Terminal Velocity, plus a few "special" episodes, which will be either unique missions like these, or stunts like the Saturn V to X ones.

Yeah it is. Titan seems like a very cool place, although the difficulty in getting there is probably the reason why.

Yeah, the Gravity assist path is difficult to plan out - KSPTOT can get you a solution, but it ended up being similar in cost to a direct transfer... I have seen the Bumblebee mod! Sadly there are no RO configs for it, so I decided to make mine out of 113 procedural parts here, it was more fun this way. A lot of the work is done with the Camera tools mod! Things like pathing shots, zoom shots, flyby shots, etc.

Haha, that would be pretty cool. Although the look of my cruise stage might be a little outdated by then. (it's the only part that's essentially made up, since I have no real details on it) Camera tools is the main mod used for the shots themselves. Audio and camera shake was added in post, but camera tools does have a built-in camera shake option for the flyby cam.

Yes most likely the lander will relay the telemetry and other comms back to the orbiter which in turn will relay it back to earth. They did the same way back when they sent a lander and an orbiter to Venus for the first time, pretty amazing stuff if you think about it!

@@meinemeier281 I don't think the relay idea would work for Dragonfly - it's a direct aerobrake at Titan, there's no way for a relay to slow down and keep in range. @@TDChannelKSP Interesting, there's probably a good reason for that. Not that I'm educated enough to have an opinion about it, but antennas are relatively heavy right? And don't you think Titan (or atleast its thick atmosphere) will get in the way of the signal? But then again, I would imagine that relaying the data also adds a big delay. I think Perseverance has done the EDL in relay style, which first relayed it to the Mars reconnaissance orbiter and then to earth. So it IS possible, but maybe not when doing it at Saturn?

The MRO was used as a relay whenever it flew overhead to help transmit, but that was launched long before perseverance. In the case of Saturn, there is no pre-existing relay satellites to aide Dragonfly. It would have to be an additional launch. And you would need additional fuel in order to capture into orbit of Titan, instead of just aerobraking to the surface.

There is no orbiter around Titan/Saturn right now and there isn't any planned for the near future. The only thing they could do is to use the coast stage to relay data from the lander during the entry, descent and landing phase. During that phase Dragonfly cannot use its main high gain antenna to talk directly to Earth, but it will most likely have a short range omni antenna that can talk to the coast stage. The coast stage would have to make a deflection maneuver soon after releasing Dragonfly, so that it flies by Titan instead of entering its atmosphere and burning up. Of course that would be a 'single use' relay, as the coast stage won't have enough delta v to brake into Titan's or even Saturn's orbit.

Dragonfly itself was custom built out of proc parts and firespitter. The Vulcan was from Hephaistos, with WIP configs from Jceratops. (not sure if there's more up to date configs nowadays) Glad you enjoyed it!

No - I'm not entirely sure what the cruise stage weight is, and the papers I looked at just mentioned the Atlas V 411 as a candidate. However, Perseverance went to Mars directly & the main thing Dragonfly has to do is get to Venus (or a solar orbit that allows Earth to assist it into Venus the year after), and the gravity assists do the rest of the work, so I'm guessing maybe not?

@@TDChannelKSP I've been into this stuff long enough to have a reasonably good idea of what is and isn't realistically going to happen. But, I'll admit I have no hard evidence that's it's going to be cancelled, it just seems like the most likely option. Also, it kinda reminds me of the Titan Saturn System Mission (TSSM) that got cancelled a while ago.

@@chrisgaming9567 Dragonfly is going to fly. You can't compare it and Titan Saturn System Mission. Dragonfly won the selection process for the fourth New Frontiers class robotic mission in 2019 and it is already in development. TSSM never made it past the proposal phase for a Flagship class mission, as the Europa Jupiter System Mission was given priority. And eventually, EJSM evolved into Europa Clipper.

@@Lewy94999 The previous New Frontiers missions were all far simpler, less ambitious, and probably cheaper, hence why they succeeded. But I admire your optimism. Also, that last part kind of helps to prove my point - Europa Clipper could easily get cancelled too.

@@chrisgaming9567 thankfully your prediction seems to be false, theyre now doing testing of dragonfly at JPL :) its the 2020s, if anything, dragonfly isnt ambitious enough, we absolutely can pull it off, and we will.

Dragonfly itself is made up of 113 parts, mostly procedural parts and B9 procedural wings, and the props are from firespitter. The cruise stage is built with procedural fairings, and has solar panels from ROSolar (models provided from Near future solar)
