This song is the first on the album, so as this long intro played I'd be loading up the squat rack and sometimes I'd add just a little extra; I called it 'the Metallica effect'. I mostly run now due to quarantine but man, I miss how fucking invincible the PUPPETS album would make me feel in the gym.

45 yr old white Canadian here and it's true everyone in high school that loved rock were what we called " Headbangers" or metal heads and I was one of them but we used to love it whenver we'd be at a party and there would be one black metal head with a leather jacket white high top sneakers and a slight fro seemed they all adopted the Jimi Hendrix look and we'd always want them at our parties. I had an awkward moment in music class when teacher played a song from black album (don't remember anymore what it was) as an example for some musical stuff. Not only I was the only one headbanging the whole song but when he asked if it was good afterwards, I was so pumped that I bounced standing raising horns and yelled "fuck yeah!". Everyone except the teacher was looking at me like I'd lost it. Good memory.

Dave didn't contribute as much as everyone who dickrided Mustaine believes nowadays. When he left before KEA, Metallica changed their playing style anyways, while Dave developed the Megadeth sound.

Master of Puppets as an album is probably overall the BEST they've created as a cohesive unit. If you notice on the album cover, the hands at the top with strings leading down to the grave markers showing not only "Puppets", but essentially the song "Disposable Heroes" - "You will do, what I say, when I say - Back to the front!" This whole album is just epic.

Yeah, I know people overate things all the time, sometimes it's justified sometimes not, with Metallica it's the latter. They did so much for heavy metal music and they're indeed the greatest metal band ever if we measure by it albums sales and concert tickets in total

Id have to agree on that. Every song is a gem. Its probably the pinnacle of what heavy metal will ever be. I just dont see how anything could possibly top it. I speak from a practical point of view. Not an emotional one. The album is in fact, quite perfect on every level.

I am in my 40s but began listening to them at the age of 13 in High School and they literally CHANGED my view on and love of music entirely!
