This is a beast of a Bike. Loved it madly, nevertheless it’s touring capabilities are limited by my experience as the sporty side is dominant “ready to race” mentality, over the touring side of it. So the bike is all about the pilot and nothing about the pillion. The side panniers are beautiful and practical, and we can carry easily some luggage on them. Unfortunately I had to let her go. Got fed up of electronics and their false warnings of every kind of failure, that in fact never occurred, but those red warnings on the digital screen, popping up everyday, on a bike that I bought new, were killing me. The Dealership didn’t seem strange to it, but never solved those electronic issues. The bike though, was a real pleasant ride in every sense. Overwhelming power in every situation, that gives the pilot a increased secure ou safety sensation. The bike is meant to ride fast and at more lively paces it delivers everything KTM promises. Very precise, in general terms, the sound is marvelous. The breaks are superb, one of the best sets I’ve experienced. Loads and loads of fun! ❤ miss mine, as you probably can verify by the comment, but couldn’t live well with the uncertainties that it was presenting.

Hi Fernando, I think you have perfectly summarised the best features of the bike and I did love the ride, the feel, the speed and the sound. ITs a real shame that it seemed to have gremlins and that KTM could not get that sorted for you. You do need to feel secure and that the bike wont let you down so totally understand your reasons for letting her go..... but wow.... What A Machine!

Hi, thanks for another comprehensive review of a beautiful machine. Coming from the Evo and since I was looking for a more touring oriented bike I decided to part away from KTM and go for the 1250 RS that you also presented on the channel. I love the LC8 and I’m still kind of missing it but after having tested both the GT and the RS I found the latter being more confortable and the engine more suited for touring. That said, I can’t deny that, while quitting the Evo, I may have been influenced by the feeling that the bigger sister was a kind of downgrading option and thus not worth the change. This may sound strange but emotions play a big role while choosing a bike. I’m curious to know how you would compare the two bikes. Ride safe ✌️

Hi Giovani, Firstly, I want to say that motorbikes are totally about emotions. If we were pragmatic and calculated, we would never get on motorbikes in the first place. I love the way that certain motorbikes evoke very strong, emotional reactions. And I love my R1250R and understand why you opted for the RS. It is a very comfortable machine. The KTM models are all about fun and exhilarating experiences and the SD GT is an amazing bike. I loved it. I want one. But is it better than an RS… that dependable boxer, that comfortable ride. The ergonomics. In a way they are very different machines delivering a totally different user experience. Then they are both motorbikes. Totally not necessary, but giving us joy and exhilaration. If I had to choose one for every day use after my experience, at this point, I will probably choose the KTM but the RS is also an amazing bike. At the end of the day, it’s down to the individual personal preference based on your own experiences and the bike you have previously owned and ridden. There are no wrong answers here, just people who love motorbikes. Thanks for watching. Thanks for contributing. Wish you all the very best on your wonderful Bmw, 1250 RS . Take it easy, and ride safe!

If I recall correctly, the torque in our R1250R and the 1290SD are about equal (though the latter has higher HP). How did you find the felt torque between the two, the feel of its delivery and punch?
@TheWrittleRider
@TheWrittleRider Жыл бұрын
Hi Pbofan, hope you are keeping well. So to me the 1290 felt quicker and more fun than the 1250 boxer. Two very different bikes of course, and a first ride in no way can inform a rider of how a long term ownership would go. As a one off though the KTM was a lot of fun, the rumble and vibrations from the engine combined with the speed was just excellent. The boxer engine produces quite level torque up to about 6000rpm where it then takes off. The KTM highest torque is produced higher in the rev range but somehow felt quicker than the boxer lower down. Might be where the boxer is much smoother that it does not feel as quick, it feels calm and controlled, where as the KTM feels like a mad dog with no intention of behaving! Hope this helps buddy. All the best and Ride Safe!

Hi Hawk, when I mentioned it KTM did not say anything about that but it was definitely not working for me that day! Most disappointing 😟… but still an AMAZING MOTORBIKE!!!

Would the RS be much more comfortable compared to the GT when it comes to riding position? I’m 1.92 m and own a 2021 GT and considering an BMW 1250 RS
@TheWrittleRider
@TheWrittleRider Жыл бұрын
Hi Arno, I would say the RS would be a more comfortable ride for long rides. Not so much about the bikes ergonomics but more about the engine and the ease the BMW give you. The KTM has more character and is so much fun, but takes more concentration and energy to ride. The RS is smoother and less stressful to ride I would say. My advice would be take one for a test ride, but for for a few hours at least. Get some miles under your belt and you can then make a good considered decision. All the best and thanks for viewing. Ride Safe.

@@TheWrittleRider thanks a lot for your reply, very much appreciated and you summarize my feelings quit well. Love my GT in terms of fun, but it’s difficult to only cruise allong on it. Will hire a RS for a full day to try. Thanks, drive save and good luck with your channel

I personally had the same question with my 1,84m and it appears that the position on the RS for pilot who are more than 1.80m is very "crampy". I decided to change my order from the RS to the SDGT finally for this reason. I'm curious to see if any customization on the performance mode, especially with the throttle response setting, will help a bit to calm the best... At least it stay the Rain mode that reduce the engine power around 100hp... As the switch mode via a shortcut button looks simple, it would not be a problem to handle that management of the engine that way... I'm interesting also to understand if people who are facing fault alerts on the dashboard are more on the V2 or the V2.5 side?

is this a good beginner bike?
@TheWrittleRider
@TheWrittleRider 7 ай бұрын
Hi Ivar, to be honest no I would not recommend this bike for any beginner due to its power. The power delivery is something that could be a bit much for a new rider. In my opinion, nothing more than a 650cc really would be needed for a first bike. Something like the Triumph Trident, Honda CBR 650R, Kawasaki Vulcan (small cruiser) or the Suzuki SV650 or the V Strom 650. These 4 / 5 bikes would be my suggestions. I hope this helps and sorry if you have your heart set on the KTM but I would begin on something small and cheaper at least for the first 5-10k of any new riders career. All the best and happy Christmas 🎄
