The Class 21 was delivered in 2 batches, the first in 1965 and the second in 1968. This class was not an outstanding success, but nevertheless they served KTM for more than a quarter of a century. They have now been withdrawn, but one example is preserved. Class 21 probably carried the biggest variety of liveries of any Malaysian class. They started life in green (1960s), moved on to maroon (1970s), orange/yellow (early 1980s) and silver (late 1980s).

Kelas 21 datang dalam dua kumpulan, yang pertama pada tahun 1965 dan yang kedua pada tahun 1968. Sepanjang perkhidmatan beberapa kali telah bertukar warna bermula dengan warna hijau (1960-an), beralih ke maroon (1970-an), oren / kuning (awal 1980-an) dan perak (akhir 1980-an).

Klass 21 buatan jepun ni pengeluar KISHA SEISO KASHA Limited diKyoto. Berat Loco....52Tons. HP...1,060 Engine...Mercedes Benz 820DB V8 Turbo Charge Pertama dibawa masok ke Msia 1965. Kesemuanya 25.Loco. Semua dah Scrap. Tinggal 1 utk pameran umum diMelaka. Ditamatkan perhikmatan Loco ini 1983.

This loco is really very2 rare to see & really looks Japanese. Used to see it during my childhood time back in 70's & 80's. Thanks bro for bring back the sweet memories in this lovely video.......

Menurut arwah bapa sy yg bekerja di bengkel KTM Sentul,Loko kelas 21 ni masalah besar nya adalah sistem hidrolik pada loko tersebut.itulah sebabnya usia perkhimatannya x lama.Berbanding kelas 20 dan 22.

Kelas 21 ni x panjang hayatnya.Menurut arwah bapa sy,loko kelas 21 masalah besarnya bhgn sistem hidrolik.

Bukan ini sahaja masaalahnya.....oleh kerana beratnya tidak mencecah 100Tan wheel slippery bila hendak bergerak bila hendak menarik barangan kargo. Pembantu kena letak pasir pada landasan. Kalau tidak tayar loco tetap berpusing tapi sukar nak bergerak. Secondly, masaalah pada brake dynamic bantuan breaking pada traction motor pada axle .

Loko ni pun ok jugak..sy ingat lqgi masa dulu bila nk bergerak jer tayar kat loko depan dia berpusing dah..tapi gerabak kat belakang x bergerak lagi..x berape kuat loko ni

Maksudnya berat loko tue tidak mempunyai bebanan utk tayar grip ats landasan...sbab tue tayar loko akn berpusing terlebih dahulu.....

Ini disebabkan berat loco hanya 50Tons. Gelinciran pada tayar Loco(wheel slippery on rail) pada landasan adelah biasa bila nak menarik kargo yg berat.
