Sir, does RC390 year 2016-2017 comes with abs and slipper clutch as standard? I'm looking for used unit to train around at go cart track. How about the reliability? Im afraid the engine and gearbox couldn't stand on track abuse :)

It's got enough power to go faster u can tell by how quick it approaches the limiter with a new sprocket stick a smaller one on the back and it will go faster possibly 190 also get a power commander on it and increase max rpm by 500 and dyno it to get some more power out of that extra 500 rpm this will all help top speed also put a pod filter on the intake and full exhaust system

Bin letztens die Vitpilen 401 gefahren. Quasi das Schwestermodell der KTM. Die ging wie die gesengte Sau. 185 kmh, ohne Verkleidung!! Der Begrenzer hat dann irgendwann eingesetzt.

a friend swears that with sprocket change, and ECU tune, he can get his to 199kph. he doesn't live near me, or even in the US, so I have no way of testing. cool bikes tho! wish I could afford one :'(

Change to a free-flowing airfilter, full system exhaust and upgrade the ECU, it will do 200+, see @the_clutchless Instagram, his bike does 200+ kmph

It stops the engine rev from going too high which can destroy the engine.

It doesn't shut off, but the rev cut is quite abrupt and shakes up the bike, not something you want happening when you have it leaned through a corner.

It does have some vibration but it wasn't terrible to the point that it made me feel uncomfortable. If it did, I wouldn't have rode it all the way till the rev limiter. :)

Yes there are such laws. It's not a new law, just not frequently enforced. Recently "trending" topic here so everyone all, hyped up, just chill for a couple of weeks the trend will move on to other things and we can resume enjoying our exhaust as we have been for years & years.

the sound is misleading isn't it, sounds like you've got maybe a couple thousand rpm left but then the limiter kicks in. that would drive me insane.

I ride the same bike for almost 7000km now and already had a cracked gearbox... before the gearbox was replaced, it bounced of the limited the same way yours did. Was horrible to ride fast on the autobahn. But now with new gearbox it's bouncing less. Other than that fantastic bike. Superb handling and acceleration

In india default unit is km/h , for m/h you have to divide km/h by 1.6

It's still just a single cylinder and the tune is more towards increased torque rather than top speed.

So the bike was fully stock, it seems. Just today I reached 174km/h on my Duke 390 of course their is an aftermarket exhaust with remapping so the rev limiter won't kick in that hard. But I still can't cross 100 km in 4th gear lol. Nice video man.

Yup it's stock, because it's a test bike, I doubt they would modify a test bike. Recently tried the RC250.. These bikes have nice acceleration but reaches the rev limiter pretty quickly, wished the acceleration would go on and on.. :)

I don't really get it, how can a 390ccm bike have a max speed of just 170kmph? My friends Ninja with its 250ccm does 170kmph max speed. I had thought that the KTM Duke 390 was the perfect bike for me, until I'd found out about its top speed...

The KTM bikes are single piston engine and the Ninja is a twin, engine size is not the only factor, you need to look at horse power produced and torque.

KTM Duke 200 only have top speed 138km/h..... ITS THE LIMITER from the manufacturer.... If limiter is removed or mod, it can go even faster. The limiter is intended for safety reason.

The ktm is a single cylinder 😑. If it had a parellel twin, it go easily 180-190 stock. Tuning this will increase the torque more rather than hp, ratio. Heavily modified and you will get 200kmh

I folded the mirrors because one of them had a loose ball-joint and would self-fold when riding due to the wind. Otherwise they function like what they are meant for.

Those mirrors are designed so u don't need to turn your head to the side to check!! It looked really lame with them folded up like that and u turning your head to c if there was traffic.. Come onnnn =o) They were designed for your safety but also with efficiency in mind :) U might be doing 150 and have a car way faster than you at your 5 o clock! Ever try turning your helmet to the side at such a speed? Not pleasant :) Please consider using them :) Cheers! P.S: I own the duke 2016 version of the 390. My top speed has been only 174. But my cousin and several friends who own the 390 as well, have clocked the 179 so im a bit sad ;p

Why do KTM bikes (at least their lower cc RC models) have such an "aggressive" rev limiter? It lowers the RPM too much and it doesn't seem to be working at a high enough frequency to interfere smoothly. Coupled with the fact that it sounds like the engine could rev more, I imagine this rev limiter causing a crash, in a rare but possible combination of circumstances, when it kicks in while at a high lean angle. It seems as if it's a signature of KTM - to add to the unique image to and / or feel of the bike but I don't think that there is any technical reason behind its aggressive working mode. If so, then it's a cheap and irresponsible move by KTM, which implies their style over functionality approach to some important aspects of their bikes.

Maybe lower 2 teeth for the rear sprocket would help. You can see how aggressive it climbs the rev and hitting the limiter.

setakat tu je speed dia tak jauh beza dgn r25.....tak berbaloi ambik moto ni...mahal je lebih...alang2 nak ambik baik terus 4 inline 600cc ke atas....

Dey, ko ingat r6 tu harga murah mcm 300cc punya motor ke😑? Ktm rc390 ni pon 29k. Ni nak r6(bergantung pada thn). Yg model 2018 pon 90 hingga 100k. Daripada beli r6 harga tu, ko boleh beli 1000cc yg model lama sikit. Haih..
