That's an absolutely wild bike man, congratulations. I was a little shocked to hear that it was a parallel twin with such high compression and RPM range, but it's super cool to see manufacturers doing something outside of the expected.

I had a 2010 RC8 Base (not the R and last of the Orange and Black Bikes). I have always wondered what it would have been like to track it. I did not have the money to track it and possibly wreck it. I found it to be a horrible street bike, but thought it had no business being there. That being said, I traded it for a MY17 Super Duke GT and it has more power, but better manners. I am glad that KTM took the RC8 off the street. They are Racers, Through and Through. I have always wanted to buy a Super Duke and take an RC8 and build a hybrid of the 2. Anyway, super jealous of you but I will watch all your videos! I am now a big fan!

Fantastic! Picking her up at the dealer looked fun! You’ve mentioned the relative lack of electronics, but the quick shifter sounds really good. How does it feel? Really enjoying the details and sounds you’re sharing. 👍🏻😎
@vtranmoto
@vtranmoto 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Curtis! The quickshifter and autoblipper have worked well. I think the most seamless autoblipper I’ve had was on my Aprilia Tuono Factory. During the race I had several moments where I was unable to get into 4th -> 3rd gear and ended up rolling through a corner one gear too high which hampered my ability to exit. Now that could totally just be the adrenaline/sloppiness, but it did occur more than once which was frustrating. Regardless, the autoblipper is still far better than the one on my R6 which results in false neutrals/failed downshifts so much so that I just clutch any critical/heavy braking zones because I no longer trust it. At a high level, every race bike at this point has a quickshift and likely autoblipper. So to me electronic suites really are the rider aids: traction control, slide control, launch control, and wheelie control - of those, the RC8C has none. Which I think is the right call given the class it’s in and relative “low” power. :)
@CurtisBrandt
@CurtisBrandt 2 жыл бұрын
@@vtranmoto I was surprised to hear the RC8C lacked those electronics, considering how well-specified (and functional) the electronics on other KTMs are. With good throttle connection, though, as you say, on a bike with that torque and HP level, perhaps the lack isn't a big deal. The bike is clearly special on a number of other levels.

Hey Sir, wow at last you get to ride that baby again. Awesome bike indeed. I've seen all the stats and rare track reviews and I must say this is a pure track/race bike for the man/woman on the street that wanna feel like they're on something close to motoGp on track. Someone asked why don't KTM make this a street machine, I say why and what's the point, cos this is a raw machine with only one purpose, to rip up the track, which I absolutely love the concept of. Love the sound too, sounds good for a twin for sure. You may have to shift a lot more but that's all part of the fun I'm sure.

My GP2 definitely feels like a lazy revver so you really gotta have that gearing right which would be my only complaint but once I got the gearing correct I could really wring its neck. The brakes are wild. Usually on my GSXR 1000 on full throttle until almost the two cone and on the brakes at the two but the Kramer I'm grabbing brakes on the 1 cone which is scary and a hell of a ride. I was running two seconds off my 1000 lap times at Chuckwalla this weekend.

Sadly they make it for track only...

I would not say it’s sad because it performs extremely well because it’s track only. There are no compromises, no extra weight: no headlights, no mirrors, no tail plate, no street exhaust limitations, it’s pure performance 👍

How DUMB is KTM for REFUSING to build something similar 890 for the street

Supposedly they are working on a sportbike model with the new twin engine they’re developing; it’ll be less track focused but a streetable sport KTM will be well received!

what does it say about you that you're still wearing a mask that has zero basis in science to presumably protect you from something that has zero chance of killing you? then you go ride motorcycle? what's more likely to kill you? what does say about you?

You sound like you're really smart. Why don't you tell us, based on your giant intellect, of the things that you must know to be truths about this guy based on him wearing a mask. Share the amazing conclusions of your oversized mind with us less fortunate, regular people. We will blessed to be enlightened by your knowledge. Lolz
