Disassembling my tractor's clutch to figure out what's broken and what needs to be replaced.

I have the same clutch on a L275. When I bolted it on the fly wheel it compressed it so there was no way to engage the clutch because the three hook bolts seem to be all the way in. I had the set bolts set to factory specs by a kubota dealer and now the middle disc also becomes loose when bolted on tight. Any suggestions would be helpful.

is the clutch at 4:50 the drive clutch? My clutch pedal engages are the very end of the throw, like the last inch. It also engages very abruptly. All external adjustments seem to be fine. Any input would be great!

I'm pretty sure the clutch plate closer to the engine is the wheel drive clutch. If yours now grabs only when your foot is almost off the pedal AND it's glitchy, sounds like that plate is worn out.

@@ronkoci1681 Yep, glitchy is the correct word for it lol. Thanks man

I've read other articles from people who have had dealers not get the adjustments right. Certainly if it's bolted on but has no pressure on the lever bolts (no bearing there to push it), the lever straps shouldn't be squeezing the assembly and disengaging the clutch. sounds like things aren't assembled right - order/direction, rotation angle?

the assembly is correct. I changed the set screws back to the way they were. I put the tractor back together and there is a lot of play in the pedal before it engages the lever strap bolts.(they still seem to far in) I assume that is because it has new clutch disc. Is there any way to eliminate that play?

David Steindl You can access the bolts from the side port. Just use 2 thin wrenches to loosen the lock nuts, then turn each the same bolt the same amount, turning the engine (with compression released) to get to each. From my view, I wanted the bolts in far enough that I just get full declutch of the PTO at full pedal down (assuming pedal linkage just pushes start enable switch is where it's supposed to be). As the disks wear it will declutch sooner.
