I love my MX 5800! I'm on 12 acres and have done a lot of clearing in my wooded area (and quite rocky in my area). I also help out here and there on my neighbor's 20 acre horse farm, e.g. clearing, mowing, spreading stone dust for the horse arena, etc. I've had my MX 5800 for ~2.5 years. It is my first real/compact tractor, and I don't know how I ever lived without it!

I have an MX5400 open station and I would not trade it for the world. I have 21+ acres and it does everything I need it to do. In a perfect world it would come standard with 2 rear remotes and external cylinders on the 3 point hitch, but it IS an economy tractor and the trade off is well worth the $10,000 or so you save from an M series utility tractor. If you farm for a living then go for the M series, but if you're just mowing, grappling, and doing general land maintenance, this is the perfect machine. It is more than capable of doing occasional small farm tasks like lifting round bails and running a small square bailer, or Raking hay . You can get the MX with a cab if you need AC in the summer and heat in the winter, but if you were raised using letter series tractors from the 40's and 50's, just having 4 wheel drive and power steering make this a luxury machine. Do yourself a favor and make sure it comes with a skid steer quick attach coupler, and have your dealer install a 3rd function valve. No regrets!!! Thus far anyway! Remember to make the most of today because tomorrow is never guaranteed! Stay safe.

Actually watching because the m5660su is only about 2k more than the mx5400. Seems like a great option for only 2k more. 46k vs 48k Now the cab seems to be the 10k option I'm not willing to pay for

@@RockinRack The m5660 is a great machine. I finish mow about 5 acres, and it is just too big for my need. I agree if you're looking for a small utility tractor, that would be the way to go. I definitely wanted a hydrostatic transmission, and I don't think it's available on models bigger than the mx series. I can't believe the price! Thats 9 grand more than I paid 2 and a half years ago for the MX with a third function valve and a 6' land pride rotary cutter. If you decide to go with the m5660su, let us know how you like it. I bet you will love it!

@K Hoffman we have 50ac and would probably only plant about 10. I think the L series would probably work for us but we also have some massive feeders about 10ft tall and 2000lbs that our buddies skid steer has trouble moving. And the m is 2x the weight of the mx but we don't want to get too much tractor because of one task... yet we also want it to be capable of doing everything we need haha. We're thinking we want to find an mx for rent and try it out first Actually now considering the M for our heavy use task and a little 2500 for maintaining our exotic pins that are about 3-5 acres each. And basically anything that's going to do everything would feel too big inside the pins just cleaning up and maintaining fences. Would still be less money than one skid steer

I love my MX5200, I bush hog 40 acres and it’s a beast. I’ve chained sawed oak trees and moved them with my forks without any issues. I keep the tires loaded because the tractor is a bit light in the rear. If you keep it maintained it will outlast you.

The money is so close to these machines I'd go with the M6060 they are way stronger.
