You're feeding too fast. Slow down and try to keep the drum speed up. Almost looks like you don't have hi flow or it's not engaged.

The forestry head is not designed to mulch trees over 10" that's why its bogging. Materials are over capacity. If they do this every day they will be lucky to get 1200 hrs out of the tractor. The pump in the head is an expensive repair also. Not to mention the teeth. I have to replace teeth about every 300 or so hours of mulching and they are expensive.

Either that head isn't tuned to that machine or you've got hydraulic problems.

15 minutes a tree 4 trees an hour. 32 trees in 8 hours with no breaks. An acre would take this guy two weeks. When it should be 1.5 acres a day. Finely mulched.

How do you like the Kubota for Forestry mulching? Ever have any issues with the hydraulics overheating?

David Pillet I think the Kubota is an overall pretty good machine for mulching. The only things are that the cab door doesn't seal up very well, the quick attach lines can get snagged if you're not careful, and the track kept falling off on one side for some reason (I think it was just this particular one). I didn't have any problems with the hydraulics overheating. I made sure to blow out the radiator every so often though. To be honest, I would prefer a Takeuchi TL12 for mulching.

I appreciate the reply. I'm still trying to decide. Any of these machines need to be cleaned up on a regular basis, especially where I am, with all the pine needles. I'm leaning towards the newer ASV 120's now.

David Pillet I don't have any experience with the ASV machines myself. I've heard both good and bad.

David Pillet- I have 12+ years of experience and seat time with Bobcat/ASV/CAT/ TAK and others. Apart from the (6 or so) manufacturing issues ASV had last year, they are very good machines. I’ve seen so many videos on social media; and, most negative comments on ASV are clearly from individuals who don’t know the product very well or don’t buy from a good dealer. You may want to look into the ASV 75HD or ASV 120D with the added door option if you don’t mulch full time, too. That could save some cash. Undercarriage maintenance has cost us way less on the ASV over the other machines. Plus, we don’t throw tracks on the ASV. That’s my two cents.

durtwurx77 what mulching head do think is the best, where I live I can’t use the bite limiter
