Kuerten winning his 3rd and final French Open title, his 3rd in just five years, with Moya and Agassi filling in the gap in 1998 and 1999 respectively, and each of these 2 winning their only French Open, Agassi, exactly 10 years after Michael Chang. Russel sure gave the crowd their money's worth here in 2001, the last French Open before 9/11. The years have gone fast, I forgotten just how close Russell came here to dethroning Kuerten, the 1997, 2000 and 2001 French Open winner and easily a Hall of Fame athlete. Russell was good when he was.

Kuerten filled with injuries, months away from retirement best prime Fed. We can speculate how great he is if not for injuries but… 3 RG, no1, ATP finals beating Agassi Sampras aint bad at all.

The 2020 was played at an incredibly high level abd there were some incredible rallies, idk how that is not entertaining

Kuerten did play Federer at the FO in 2004 with Kuerten (five years older than Federer) winning in straight sets. Maybe that gives you an indication of how a hypothetical Kuerten/Nadal match would go.

There is no way even peak Guga could beat Nadal, I think 2017 Final was the peak Nadal among 13 crowns. Winning 5times on local tournament is not easy task, however 13 times beating Federer, Novak, Wawrinka will give no other description. Depth, spin, and determinations are far beyond what Guga possesed.

In addition to that, The peak Federer came in 2007.

U cant compare the post 2005 gen with players like Kuerten, Muster, Chang, Kafelknikov, Bruguera, Moya, Ferrero, Agassi, Courier, Gomez, to name only champions. I could make an even bigger list with excelent clay players that didnt won RG. Roger is good on clay, not great, Novak the same and the others dont even deserve to be compared with those names. Thats my view on why Nadal got 13 titles: facing a real weak gen of clay court players.

Total Package: 1) Nadal 2) Borg Thats for sure. But Prime for Prime, i am not sure if Borg really would beat Kuerten. Yes Borg von the FO 6 times, but remember Kuerten won it 3 times at the age of 20, 23 and 24, and shortly after his 25th birthday he had a hip injury and never recovered from it, at least not for Best of 5 tournaments. If Guga would have been fit until 2005, i am very sure he would have done well in the FO 2002, 2003 and 2004. He had Ferrero´s number (winner 2003), and guys like A. Costa (winner 2002) and Gaudio (winner 2004) would not be the favorite against him. So Kuerten could also have won the FO 6 times. And Prime for Prime i would say he would be the best opponent Nadal would ever faced, better then Federer, Djokovic, Wawrinka, Thiem, Söderling, Puerta, Ferrer, etc.

he wasn't injured yet. 2001 was his last full healthy season and he was only 24 years old by then. from 2002 on his career went downhill due to injuries. when he beat brand new #1 federer in straight sets in FO 2004 3rd round he was already in his final moments of glory at age 27, when he was supposed to be reaching his peak, which was also when nadal was emerging... the rest is history that never happened...

@@bernardospinelli5588 im talkint about this game. if i remember well he called the doctor few times and was hurt somewhere during this game, wasnt talkin about the big injuries you are refering too. your last sentence is sad :(
