I have been doing the same thing. It makes my mind go up and down a lot. Edit: I really hope she returns since her condition is still unknown, and they said that she was still alive even if she was clinging onto it barely. Those who think she is gone. I can see why because of the flashbacks, but when Nanami was fighting Mahito for the second time with Yuji, they showed his flashbacks, and it seemed like he was going to die there when Mahito used his domain expansion but Yuji was able to break through the expansion and Sukana damages Mahito the moment Yuji entered it. And Nanami survived, that is until later on during the Shibuya Incident, and he was killed by Mahito that time but he was badly injured during his fight with Dagon and being burned by Jogo and fighting miscellaneous cursed spirits before that happened. So this is why I think that she is still alive, as the flashback might not have meant she is gone. The Jujutsu Sorcerer, who was with Yuji and Todo, used his reverse technique to stop the damage from getting worse, and he did say that there was a small chance she could survive. He also said not to get their hopes up too when he said he was going to get more experienced Jujutsu Sorcerer to help her when carrying her body. Gojo's friend Shoko Ieiri is more experienced with curse techniques and reverse curse techniques and could help her improve her conditions. And yes, Yuji asked Megumi what was Nobara's condition and he was silent. True, this could mean that she is gone but it could also mean that her condition is still the same. In either case Yuji say "I get it." There was a theory that Megumi did not say what her condition was because he didn't want Sukana to hear because she could use her curse techniques on his last finger to hurt him or kill him. This was a good theory to bring her back later but unfortunately, they revealed that Sukana's last finger was eaten by Yuta recently in the manga while he and Yuji are fighting a Sukana in Megumi's body. Also since Sukana is currently in Megumi's body, he would immediately know what her condition is but I guess he wouldn't care much about it at that point unless Megumi is preventing him from knowing this but that doesn't seem likely due to the condition of his mind right now. Then there is Yuji saying that he is afraid that Hana will replace Nobara on their team. This either means that he doesn't want someone to replace the void in their team whether she is gone or not or she is alive, but he doesn't want someone to take her place regardless. The only ways I can see her returning are: 1. She is alive but in a coma, and when she wakes up to find out her friends are gone after Sukana is dead. Sad ending. 2. She helps free Megumi from Sukana's control somehow. ( I would like for this to happen.) 3. Yuta coughs up the last finger for her to use it to kill Sukana, or Yuji cough up one of the many fingers he has eaten too. That is assuming the fingers are still in the body to cough up but most likely have already been absorbed by their bodies. 4. Yuji or Yuta allow Nobara to use her curse technique on them since they consumed Sukana's fingers and are connected to him, and it could kill him. 5. Sukana is defeated, but he or someone else tries to kill Yuji or Yuta or whoever is still around at the last minute, but Nobara takes them out. (I kinda want this one to happen as well as I like these situations.) 6. This is one I don't like because it has to do with Kenjaku. Even though Yuta cut Kenjaku's head off, which seems to have killed him, he might have jumped to another body. However, he most likely jumped to a body closer to him since he was close to dying, so he probably couldn't jump to her in his condition, but I hope he is dead after what he has caused. The only thing that I like that he did was kill Mahito. Of course, he killed him to use his powers for his evil plans. 7. She uses another part of Sukana to kill him. I'm not sure if this one is possible. 8. A binding vow or someone with a similar technique to Mahito's Idle Transfiguration to heal her and get rid of the curse technique that could have damaged her soul. Or maybe Hana will bring her back. I have had a lot of time to think about this. Am I coping? I will admit I probably am, but also, I don't like it when someone's character fate is up in the air. I guess another way to cope would be to just rewatch the first season of Jujutsu Kaisen since it was the happier times or watch or read a fan fiction of Jujutsu Kaisen that some people on KZfaq made that are a lot happier to watch, or read fan's ideas or theories on what might happen in the end on Reddit, but I will wait until the end of the manga to find out how it ends because maybe something interesting might happen. Edit 2: Another way for hopeing for her return is if the damage done to Todo's hands by Mahito could be healed because if they could be healed, then she could be back. One more thing, I see that a lot people keep saying that half her face was blown off by Mahito but it is just the area around her eye and you can survive without one eye, it would just be something you would have to adjust to. Compared to Mahito's other victims who received worse and died, Nobara's condition seems survivable even if it is low.

I’m not super well versed with many animes yet, so I can’t necessarily speak in DEPTH as to how JJK compares to other animes’ treatment of female characters. I only know what I have heard, and it is that JJK is much better than most. But many say it is not perfect. If I ever do a video on this subject, I think I’d like to read more of the manga/see more of the anime before I do.

I think that cop out of "maybe she's not dead" really only does harm to her character. It feels cheaper than simply having her die. Especially since the already not big impact her death had would be even worse.

You didn’t understand the character if you thought she was wasted.
