That's not a legal/safe installation in the recessed niche, nor is the one in the corner.

Both installations that you refer to are 100% legal. The stove is tested, by an independent laboratory, to the UL Safety standard for wood-burning appliances. If you'd like to know more about the standards that are in place for wood-stove safety, research "UL-1482". That standard is quite rigorous and has been in use for many decades.

The price may vary between retailers but should be in the range of about $3600, not including tax, other supplies, or installation costs.
