preface - my handwriting is bad. it's worse when I'm tired and writing on a train.
Anyway, here's some footage from my walk along the Iseji route of the Kumano Kodō accompanied by some snippets from my journal. I feel like I need to say this: it was hard! Videos and pictures never capture steepness well enough. Totals were 77.1 miles, 14,510 feet total elevation gain, and 12 passes over the 5 days I hiked.
I'm really grateful for this page: walkkumano.com... I pretty much followed exactly what the author, Craig Mod, did. Including the part where he loses the trail and gets a little lost (he warns about this in the recap of his day, I just forgot to check it before setting off the morning of). If you want a better picture of the total route, check out his Gaia GPS footage from day 3 onwards.
Here's a little map with just my stays on it: maphub.net/bro... Nowhere near as detailed as my WWOOF one, I think I'll update it later with photos from things I saw and places I ate (I had some amazing food) but I'm too anxious to share to do all that now! Do me a favor, stay zoomed in so it looks more impressive ;)
All things considered, I think it would've been faster if I had just driven.
