Kundadri hills is stuck near Agumbe, amidst the western Ghats of Shimoga. It stands at 826 meters from sea level.
This hill is located on the Thirthahalli Agumbe road and is about 12 kms from Thirthahalli town.
You can drive or ride all the way up to the peak of Kundadri Hills.
There is abundant parking space available for your vehicle. You need to further climb about 30 steps to reach top of this beautiful hill.
All your worries will go off once you reach top of this hill.
On a clear day, Kundadri hill host an amazing view of dense forests, paddy fields, a series of rolling green mountains, wandering streams and meandering valleys.
Above all, the view of a never-ending sky, filled with cotton candy like clouds is sure to stun any individual.
The name Kundadri is believed to be derived from the name of Acharya Kundakunda, a popular 4th century Jain Monk, who is said to have taken shelter in these hills.
Kundadri hill is home to a 17th century Jain temple that is dedicated to 23rd Tirthankara Parshwanath.
There are many beautifully carved stone statues inside the temple.
Besides this, there are two small ponds with emerald green water next to the temple beautifying the hills.
This hill is a gigantic monolithic rock formation, surrounded by dense evergreen forests and is a lovely place for trekking.
Camping in the open at Kundadri Hills is an exhilarating experience as from the hill top you can see the twists and turns of the Thirthahalli-Agumbe road.

How to Reach Kundadri?
By Air
The nearest airport to Kundadri is Mangalore Airport which is roughly 126 kilometres. The second closest is Kempegowda International Airport at Bengaluru, which is about 350 kilometres.
By Rail
If you go to Kundadri region by rail, you can board the train from Shimoga Railway Station, which is the closest one. From there, you can you can hop on the bus to Thirthahalli to reach the trek.
By Road
There are regular buses plying to Shimoga. As an alternative, if you choose to drive down, you can get onto National Highway NH-206 for Shimoga and take a detour to NH-13 to reach Thirthahalli. Don’t forget to turn right at Guddekere.

A visit to Kundadri can be clubbed with nearby attractions such as Agumbe (16 kms), Sringeri (30 kms from Kundadri) and Kuppalli (31 kms from Kundadri).

Kundadri is a secluded place with no facilities or people. Plan to return to the nearest town before nightfall. Hotels and homestays are available in Agumbe, Thirthahalli and Shivamogga.
