Chinese Martial Arts in China predate any Saolin Temple. All Chinese martial arts are collectively known as kung fu. Monks who came from India "added" their skills to the pre-existing Kung-fu in China not "started".

1. Bodhi Dharma (DAMO) was a practitioner of the Ancient Indian Martial Art KALARIPAYATTU. You can see the similarity in the names. 2. To make the learning easy, he taught the Monks to incorporate the fighting skills of animals like Tiger, Snake, Eagle, Crane... 3. The method of meditation introduced by him is known as CHAN, which became ZEN in Japan. Chan and Zen originated from the Indian word DHYAN, which means meditation.

@@oshoosho8466Bodhidharma is the founder of Zen Buddhism, but kung fu has little to do with Bodhidharma, because there are many categories of Chinese kung fu, and Shaolin is just one of them. You don't naively think that before Bodhidharma came to China, Chinese people would not fight, do you?😂

Even Monkeys can fight😁 The purpose of Martial Arts like Kungfu is to overcome a stronger and armed person with bare hands and daily usage tools. It requires a lot of practice to master the techniques. In Ancient India Buddhist Monks used to travel long distances, often alone. They had perfected this fine art I won't be surprised if you start claiming that Budhism too was inspired by China 😁😁😂

This is not for other nationals.
