Hi...(from New Jersey in the USA) just found your video and I want to THANK YOU for showing me how you do your (what we call Trinket) Boxes! I never ever thought of using a block of clay to form the box! that is AWESOME! and SO MUCH BETTER than forming individual sides and then trying to get them straight while attaching! Thank You again! Hope to see more of your videos!

Nice projects:) You can prevent cracking by adding some grain to the clay, make thinner walls and control drying for longer period of time.

I'm brand new to your site...and really enjoyed what I've watched of yours. This was super interesting to watch...I really want to give it a go!! I'm in a retirement community, we have a really nice studio here, about 200+ potters, & I don't believe I've ever seen anyone attempt this technique before, and we have some very talented folks that have been playing in mud for a great number of years. I can possibly turn a few of them on to something new in the handbuilding style....if i can pull this off...lol! My only attempt at a box was in my 1st few months of working with clay, it was a lil wonky for sure...this seems so much easier...or maybe your excellent skills make it so! Thank you for sharing this with us.

Thank you for a great video, I will give this a try. You mention the recipe for the glaze, I don't seem to be able to find it? I'm very new to glazing so it's always helpful to see what people use. It certainly breaks very nicely over the texture. And can I ask that you please have a longer still image at the end of your video, so we can better appreciate the finished box :-)

Do you dry and fire with the lid on, or separate from the container? *before glazing
@BlankEarthCeramics
@BlankEarthCeramics Жыл бұрын
Hey thank you for watching! Yes I dry and fire with the lid on. For drying you just have to make sure the clay isn't too wet/sticky and the lid can come off so it doesn't get stuck. I think you can also fire the lid and container separately if you want - I just like to do it together so I know the fit will be nice.
