My main confusion is why anyone would want 0ver 10 bedrooms or 15 bathrooms, etc. MOST of the time I would think the only one's there is the immediate family. Even IF you had parents there. Fine when guests come, but then their empty. MY bad, I'm just a lower middle class person. LOL. It seems so UNEEEDED.

Not necessarily the case, I’m not a movie star nor a famous person(I’ve invested enough in anonymous lifestyle) I’m involved in a huge multi market manufacturing conglomerate and I’m forced to live in different cities in the USA (6) and a similar number outside of the USA, and just immediate executive staff fills 5/8 bedrooms, 3 or more people are needed for coordinating accommodations, transportation to and from airports, etcétera, it might sound vial but it is the cost of successful business in some cases.

Recently there's a home for sale in San Francisco. Nicolas Cage used to own when he was younger. The neighbors said he partied a lot back then. But the last owner had moved out to Colorado during the pandemic. They had paid over $10 million dollars for it. Now they're asking for $3.5 million. It was in the middle of some construction so some work is needed. What gets me is how some people can afford to take a several million dollar hit like this. It's in a nice area and it has a four car garage which is rare in SF. Just will need to finish up the construction. Which can be a plus as one can customize the house.

If these folks had more sense, they'd build a spacious (3000-3500 square foot house) in these beautiful settings, large enough to have all the top luxury amenities but small enough to still feel livable. If they needed more space, they could emulate "old money" and build a guest house or two on the same property. I once rented a guest house on an estate and it was a marvelous two years.

These lavish celebrity mansions and grand castles stay on the market for years, as no-one could ever afford to buy them..! You would also have to be a multi-millionaire to maintain these properties.. They're also huge with several bedrooms, on massive plots of land, so most families find them way to big..Maybe Celine could list her Jupiter Island palace on Airbnb, to help pay the land tax..I'd definitely stay there..Poor Goldie and Kurt, rich people problems indeed!! 😁😂

Seems as if many of them spent under $1,000,000.00 for the home, invested around $2,000,000.00 on renovations and then they want to sell for around 5m or a break even at 3m. You know someone with that kind of money could also spend 1m purchasing a home and then sink 2m into their own renovations. Then it would be renovated to their liking instead of someone else's. They could spend the 3m or 5m and get what they want or they could spend the same or more to get what someone else has set up. If I had a home I wanted to sell I would never renovate the kitchen because I would want to increase the sell price because of it and a potential buyer might not like the color of the cabinets or the flooring I had done. I could keep the sell price lower for the outdated kitchen; the buyer could renovate the kitchen themselves and they could have whatever cabinets and whatever flooring they want. Maybe they don't like the way I did the recess lighting or where I put the switches. I think it looks nice and is convenient. They may think it is inconvenient and looks stupid. There's no end to it and this is just with a simple kitchen update.

Blimey! Tempted by a coastal home but now I think tsunami, flooding & gators! The pool is clear but that waterpark is scary. Guess they have a caretaker to keep out predators! I'm lower lower middle class, so I'd have to fill those extra rooms with local students who need cheap housing. Then I'd gift their rent back as a graduation present as a savings account. I hate waste and all that unused space seems abhorrent! I haven't been the same since seeing 'Panic Room'! 😳

I would turn some of these properties into hotels with special themes and I would add special items for the guests to keep them busy and wanting to return. I can cook really well and I would make breakfast for my guests every morning. Make it a personal experience like no other. I would also learn the history behind the property and give my guests a booklet about the property to give them something to remember their stay with a basket full of handmade goods and a letter from me thanking them for staying.

That's a lovely idea but, sounds like a lot of work and we know most people will not put in the effort. Estates like these need a full staff of maintenance, housekeepers, security, chefs, servers, hosts, special needs adjustments to the home and wonder what the insurance would cost. Big undertaking opening to the public. Still a good idea.❤

There are several issues with people buying large estates, As one person put it "it is not the price that bothers me, Rather the monthly upkeep, property taxes maintenance up keep and so on. But you get the picture.

I noticed many of the comments asked why does anyone need a house like these celebrity homes. They DON'T need them ! It about showing off !! It's like, look at what I live in !! . Each celebrity trying to out do the other!. Selfish people! This is just one of the reasons I don't follow or " admire " any of them !. They are ridiculous!

These homes are monstrosities. Give me a nice cozy warm home under 2000 square feet. That would make me happy.

I didn't understand the comment about the inward swinging doors being a deal breaker on fifty cent's place. If you were looking at a house in that price range, you could change the door jambs for next to nothing and even reuse the doors. Secondly, so what if they're inward doors? The weird part about his house at $2.9 million is that's a normal house price in a big city today. I know quite a few people in houses worth more that that and they're just run of the mill places. Nice places , for sure, but nothing like the mansions in this video
